It is roomy, with lots of slots for fans, hard drives, 5.25's, and pci expansion. The finish on the case is nice (mine came with just one or two small nicks on corners of the side panels, no big deal). The inside is finished all black and quite easy to work in. The cable-management holes seem to be in just the right spots to get cables out of the way without bending and twisting them at odd angles. It has a USB 3.0 in the front (the blue one) and three USB 2.0. The power and reset buttons are nicely placed on the top right of the case. There is a removable cover on top where you can put a radiator or up to two 120mm or 140mm fans (I used two 140mm). The front fans are easily removed as they screw into a removable enclosure and run off of one shared power connection. The 3.5" bays are all easily removed and accessible simply by pulling out the fan enclosure in front of them. If you are using an SSD or notebook drive, make sure you pull out the two metal pushpins on the one side of the drive bay or it won't go back in right (this in no way affects the secureness of the drive). You also have a handy storage box w/lid on top which is handy for thumb drives and other things. I usually keep the thumb screws for the side panel in there when I am in and out of the case a lot, keeping them out of reach of my curious cats. The case comes with lots of screws and even some zip ties to tie up your cables.
This is a list of 'extra' hardware that I put in the case with my build.
1 more NZXT 120mm fan for the front intake (two come with the case, one front, one rear)
2 140mm Cooler Master fans for the top (exhaust)
1 NZXT fan controller for 5.Read more ›
POSITIVE: Nice, well-built and thought out design. There are lots of pass-through areas and tie stands for cable management. There is sufficient airflow for most builds and room for a nice sized radiator up top if you want to go water cooling. I absolutely love the fan caddies on the front of the case and how simply removed they are for cleaning the built-in filters. I also really like understated design. The cable routing channels on the top are rather cool as well.
NEGATIVE: The USB ports on the front right side are located on the recessed portion of the fascia. This should be fine for most newer thumb drives, or cables, but if you have something wider like a media adapter or an older USB sounds adapter, network connector, etc.. you will probably have to resort to plugging it in on the back of the case. The threads for the side panel attachment screws were not re-tapped after paint was applied which will make the initial removal of the thumbscrews require the use of a philips screwdriver.
OTHER THOUGHTS: I was originally going to order the NZXT Tempest 410 Elite, but since I am building a heavily modded system and was going to be installing a custom window, I figured I would save a few dollars and get the non-elite version, sans-window. Unfortunately I didn't realize that wasn't the only difference. I was also going to be replacing all of the fans with super quiet, led illuminated fans, so when I realized that this version only had one front fan pre-installed it also wasn't a big deal.Read more ›
The front fans are easy to remove and clean they simply pop out when you press the two release tabs on the sides of the grill. The Fans are 120mm and relatively quiet. I like how you can mount a radiator in the top of the case outside of the motherboard area allowing you plenty of room to work in the case, while still have the radiator covered so it doesn't look like an after thought. The two top holes to mount the water cooling have notches in them to accommodate the tubing to the water block. Tis is very handy if you are using a closed loop water cooling system such as the Corsair Hydro Series Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler H80ior any other 120mm radiator system. With the area left open for the tubing you can place the radiator on top of the case even if you have a closed loop system. With most cases that have the two little holes in the back of the case for the tubing those who use a closed loop system can't use then to feed the tubing through and move the radiator outside the case. Comes with 3 120mm fans unlike many cases where you would get just one and the rest you need to buy yourself. The case inside and out has a very nice paint job on it, it is textured and very durable. I almost wonder if they powder coated it, that is how nice the finish feels on the case. I like the holes on the motherboard tray so you can change CPU heatsinks without removing your motherboard.Read more ›
