How customer reviews and ratings work
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

Ted is a ridiculous film that I can re-watch over and over. It's jam-packed with laughs from start to finish, and it still has some heart. It's dirty, raunchy, and not appropriate for most, but I still love it. It's the kind of movie that you either love or hate, with no middle ground. I'd recommend watching the trailer first, if that doesn't turn you off then you'll probably love Ted.

I recently watched this with my college age daughter. She had not seen it before (and for good reason!). Now that she's old enough, it was great to watch it with her. We both laughed so hard that our stomachs muscles were sore the next day. Great acting and I don't know how they filmed some scenes without cracking up.

Recommend watching it unrated, as long as you have "thick skin" of these ranchy offenses and jokes. Cannot wait to rent Ted 2 and hopefully Ted 3 will come sooner rather than later to theatres.

I very seldom pay extra for movies, because there's a much better than 50/50 chance they'll be the same drivel with more marketing, but I've wanted to see this since it came out.
Glad I did!

A good number of hard laughs watching Ted. My wife really liked it too. We both said we'd watch it again. Great, innovative comedy.
If you're politically correct, you may be turned off by some of the dialogue. I don't have that problem, so I enjoyed it lots.

Very funny

It's not a family guy episode. It just isn't - don't be put off by the people who claim it is.
What it is however, is 106 minutes of laughs with a smattering of suspense (no, really), and it's rounded off nicely with a heartwarming ending. All of that sounds a biit "meh", but when it's funny it's really funny - Ted going for a job interview at the supermarket had me almost hyperventilating with laughter. And there are some real near-to-the-knuckle comic moments.
Patrick Stewart expertly narrates the opening scenes with excellent comic precision.
If you're a big FG fan, you'll recognise that some of the crew are from FG:
Walter Murphy does the music as he does on Family Guy.
Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild had a hand in the screenplay.
Also from FG:
Lois (Alex Borstein) young John's mum
Joe Swanson (Partrick Warburton) John's work friend, easily recognisible by his voice
And in Ted, Lori is played by Mila Kunis who is Meg in Family Guy.
Other cameos from memory include Flash Gordon (Sam J. Jones), Ryan Reynolds, and Norah Jones and Tom Skerritt.
And a special mention must go to Giovanni Ribisi who is an excellent actor, he plays "weirdos" so well.
For me, this was the second best film of 2012 (Avengers if you're wondering), and is well worthy of a place in your DVD collection.
I've knocked a star off because it sagged for 10 minutes or so, don't let that put you off though.

Ted gets 10 out of 5 stars from me
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 12, 2013
Hilarious. There is a light plot, and it is "serious" enough to carry the story and keep you watching to the end. It is not simply a farce of gags, which it could easily have turned into. There has been serious effort to make this film work. I think it will appeal very strongly to men because there is puerile humour, but done very well. Mark Walhberg who plays John, the man with the live Ted[dy] bear, is fantastic, and Mila Kuni does very well to play the "straight" role as John's girlfriend. The star is Ted, of course, but it only works because the actors (mainly Mark Wahlberg) play to the bear so strongly. The animation of Ted makes it realistic, whose character is like a human best buddy to John.
The humour will make you laugh out loud. If you like the humour, a second viewing is worthwhile - you will have either forgotten or perhaps missed one or two gags the first time through, probably because you were still laughing from the previous joke or situation.
Buy it and enjoy.

One of the funniest comedies in recent years.

One of the funniest films you'll see if you don't mind bad language and toilet humour....and sex references, and Family Guy....
Mark Wahlberg is on form and good at delivering some comedy in this film alongside Ted (Seth McFarlane) and the duo will have you laughing from start to finish. Mila Kunis also supports the 2 main characters and adds the eye candy for the men out there. For most of the film though you will be laughing at the jokes, references and visual humour. There's also a treat for fans of Flash Gordon...

if my teddy bear when I was younger could do what this one does i would be well chuffed. one of the funniest movies I've seen in a while and considering seth was the voice for ted which did kinda reminded me of peter in family guy the humour was still there without disappointment. there were definately things you could relate to in real life in terms of the guy who hires ted to work in the convenience store although it probably took it to the extreme but managers are a bit like that.
overall a really good movie that i would recommend anyone who likes comedies to see (by the way you don't need to like family guy to like this movie because I'm sure some people are thinking that).

Ordered Used
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 15, 2022
I ordered this as a “used” copy, and it said it was “like new”, so I thought it would just be a version that had been watched a few times with maybe a couple of smudges. I think you can imagine my shock when I open the package and see that the original wrapping was still on the DVD.
Anyway, I love Ted. Think it’s a great film, so I’m excited to see what the extended version is like.
