My 4 year old son loves this book. The teddy bears are colorful and cute. The rhymes are fun. For younger readers (before age 3) it's a colorful fun book, a great intro to addition and subtraction. For ages 3 and up, pre-school kids ready to learn math, the book introduces multiplication quite intuitively and in a fun way. I am impressed as how well it explained how 12 bears could consist of 2x6 or 3x4.

I brought this book with the idea of using it as a lesson for my preschool class. While it's a nice book to add to your collection if your child is into counting bears in general. It is not a book to do lessons off of like some of the other reviews might suggests unless the child can fully read and even then it's pretty simple. I think I will bring it home and add it to my 16 month old daughter's book collection instead. That way she can do this with me when she is old enough to not put the bears in her mouth.

In this book they will cover very quickly 4 colors (the colors of most counting bear sets), 3 shapes, and counting to 12.

I brought this book via amazon used and I was sent the Scholastic version of this book. I do not know if they are different or not, usually not.

I do believe at least one of the reviews has the second book "Teddy Bear Math" and not this "Teddy Bear Counting" just because I do not have some of the things in this book they were talking about at all. If you have a child that is under around 2 1/2 year old I would get this book. It is a cute little book to read to them. If they are older I would get the other version there is a lot more to that book.

Just know both books are more stories to read than lessons to teach.

I got this book for my daycare kids. It really starts out basic and works up to addition and subtraction. So if you are working with toddlers I think you gave to do this book in stages. But I am very glad I got this to go with our bears.

The book is interesting but a tad short for the price it was. I should have look through product description carefully as I thought it has more activities than it contained. And also it has concepts of multiplication and division which I find too early to introduce to preschoolers. Now I'm considering to buy the cards as well. Since my kid and I have enjoyed working through the book (only the addition and subtraction parts) with the bear counters.

The other reviewers are correct. This is more of a reading and counting book and not something to work with the counting bears themselves. I'm contemplating about just cutting the book and laminating the pages. Please look elsewhere if you plan to use this with counting bears. The bears do not sit on the page and need to be cleared when they turn the page.

A good resource, but more so for one on one work... Kids love having a book that goes along with their manipulatives though

These sorting mats are a great resource to use with this!
