Love the new Teddy!!

We love the new Teddy Ruxpin. At first I thought he too (just like a bunch of people did) was missing his eye mask (needed to protect his eyes when not in use) but he has a back pocket in his vest that I found it in. Look there if you think you are missing it. He is tiny compared to my original one from 1985. He has some of the same stories and drawings mine did. I loved comparing them. So fun. I still have my Teddy and we play with him so my son already knows the books. So much fun. As for the batteries, we make sure he is turned off when not in use. Like any toy, they all seem to go through batteries quickly.

I hope they come out with accessories for him soon like mine had in the 80's. SO happy they brought him back. Now bring back Grubby and the Fobs too!! The picture shows my Teddy vs. the new one and that they have the same stories. Adorable.

Stopped worked after a couple of months on his own. No falls or damage to justify. One eye doesnt seem to work anymore and outside of the intro when you turn him on, he no longer speaks, all you hear is static. Reached out to the company for support, other than telling me to replace the batteries they told me there is no warranty and told me they couldn't help any further. Don't waste your money.

I had a Teddy Ruxpin as a child, it was my favorite toy and thought it would be great to have the same experience for my daughter. Will never buy another toy from this company as they won't stand by their product or buggy software. Unacceptable customer service.

I like most commenters on here, bought this Teddy for Nostalgia reasons. Here’s some perspective. Those of us who had the original, had parents pay $75 dollars for the bear which only came with one tape and book. In today’ s market $75 dollars is closer to $150. So for those complaining that they have to buy additional stories, well this is no different than the OG Teddy, who had to have book/tape sets bought extra. If you do the math, if you purchase the bundle, each story comes out to about $3.57, which is probably a lot cheaper than having to buy the original book/tape combo. Here a tip. If you want a physical book, the original stories haven’t changed. You can buy them on eBay for a reasonable price. As for the eye mask, I surmise many didn’t read directions about syncing , etc. The infamous sleep mask is in a pocket on Teddy’s back. My son hasn’t put it down since he’s had it. Do we also need a Book to listen to a story? How about using some imagination. My son literally woke up with a nightmare last night and turned Teddy on to tell him a story. I think there are some very unfair reviews because others may not have read directions. I hope that Wicked Cool Toys comes out with additional stories and characters, most importantly Grubby. Bring back Grubby.

I purchased Teddy for my 3 yr old. Just 3 days after opening him, he stopped working. He was never dropped or handled roughly. When turned on his eyes flashed white, went dark, and then came on staring blankly. Performing a reset and fresh batteries did not help. I contacted Wicked Cool Toys directly. I was given a shipping label to send him back. Less than a week later we had a new Teddy. But, the replacement had a 'clicky' mouth. I again contacted the company. I spoke Roxanne who was very apologetic. She offered to send me a new limited edition Teddy with books and told me I could keep the other Teddy for my trouble. I was concerned that this toy was more fragile than expected, but it seems we just had some bad luck. The new Teddy arrived a day later and we have had no problems with him the last 2 weeks. I gave Teddy 4 stars because connecting to a tablet is a bit difficult. Also, when Teddy 'goes to sleep' he must be switched off and then on. This is not something my 3 yr old can easily do. It would have been more age appropriate for 'wake up' to initiate with a button press. My experience with customer service was very pleasant. I read several reviews stating they have a broken toy that is past it return date. I would encourage anyone who has a problem with the toy, to contact the company directly. There was never a question of when my first Teddy was purchased.

Fell off a 1/2 foot drop from a child's chair and would not work again.

These are no where near as durable as the 80's version. (But nothing is anymore.) Hate the LED eyes. But worse of all... He was not durable at all. He fell off a child's picnic bench seat about 6 inches off the ground. Maybe 8 inches. But not even a foot. And he kept acting like he was skipping. His eyes went dark and he was going eh eh eh eh over and over. It was truly horrible for a child to suddenly have a toy they enjoyed so much to get broken without so much as dropping it.

Also... Story books are not included! You must buy them on a tablet. You have to own a tablet or phone to get them. Then you have to buy them!

Also Grubby is no where so Teddy just talks to a disembodied voice that no one would know who it was if they'd never seen the books or cartoon before!

Without the books Teddy is just telling those tall tales he likes to tell!

BRING BACK THE BOOKS IN REAL BOOK FORM!!! Children are on tablets and phones more than enough! Giving them a real book they can hold in their hands would be the best thing in the world!

I am having the same problems as others. Used only 2 times and Teddy cuts off in the middle of a song or story and will not come back on unless the power button is cut off and on. I bought the original for my daughter 30+ years ago and it was great. I was excited to have this product for my grandson though it is expensive. This item is a waste of $80+. It is a shame the quality of products today and the ripping off of consumers, not to mention the disappointment to children. I, too, should have listened to the reviews! Buyer beware.

I wish I could give this one star. I purchased this very expensive toy in July 2020. It has stopped working. When I contacted the seller the response was to check the batteries. This is not a battery issue. This is defective merchandise and as far as the seller is concerned this is just my tough luck.
