In every pic and video review I can find online, Raphael's belt comes with two small holsters on the front of his belt to hold his sais. However, the one I just received from Amazon did not. No holsters on the front of his belt or the back. Wonder why the change?

UPDATE: I contacted Playmates Toys customer service at toys@playmatestoys.com and give them my address in the email and they will send a new belt in a couple of weeks. So if your Raph shows up like mine, they will replace. Great customer service.

Length: 5:30 Mins
Splinter taught them to be ninja teens (He's a radical rat!)
Leonardo leads, Donatello does machines (That's a fact, Jack!)
Raphael is cool but rude (Gimme a break!)
Michelangelo is a party dude (Party!)

If you grew up loving the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoons, figures, games, and movies, then you're going to love this figurine. Even if you didn't and you're a new TMNT fan, this is still one figure you're going to want to own. The detail and articulation throughout this figure is excellent. The included sewer cover base plate is an added bonus (each Turtle has his own name written on the plate he comes with). I also love the size of these "Classic Collection" figures compared to my original 1980's collection. The added height really makes them come alive and stand apart.

With all of the articulation on this figure and the increased size over the standard TMNT action figure lines, it's definitely geared towards the collector who wants to put it on display. However, it's still a very well-built figure, and I expect it should hold up well for anyone who wants a super-detailed yet classic-looking TMNT figure for playtime. I tried to cover most of the major articulation points in the video, but I know there are some I missed (such as the ankles' ability to rotate side-to-side as well as up and down). So just realize that these figures are VERY posable - even moreso than what I show in the video.

Mine did come with extremely stiff shoulder joints right out of the box. It took quite a bit of pushing and pulling to get them moving, and I was a little concerned I was going to damage the joint just below the shoulder ball as I was gradually increasing the amount of force I was having to use.

I have always been a fan of TMNT. I was very eager and excited upon hearing about this line coming out. I had ordered Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo. When they arrived, one of Raph's sais was missing the red paint on the grip, and his shoulder joints were frozen. I ended up having to take a hobby knife and removing the excess plastic in the joint. I had the same issue with Michelangelo as well. Both Raph's and Mikey's swivels above the elbows are very loose as well. I have tried using clear nail polish and tried to work it into the joints with no avail.

Despite the issues with the shoulder/bicep joints, I absolutely love these figures! They are a great update to classics characters!

Raphael has always been my favorite TMNT, so when I found out about these action figures (thank you, Phellous!), it was the first one I purchased. And it won't be the last.

This figure is, in a word, fantabulous. The likeness to the classic TV show is amazing. Much better than any of the figures there were around when the show was still on TV. The detail is fantastic. And even though it has a lot of swivels and separations, they're not a detriment to the figure, which still looks natural. Unlike for other reviewers here, my figure has no paint problems at all.

Raphael comes with a detailed stand shaped as a manhole cover with the TMNT logo on it and a couple of sais, which can be set in the holsters that come in the front of his belt. The one small gripe I have with the sais is that they are slightly shiny gray plastic, not metallic like the picture suggests. But the only reason it's a gripe it's because the picture makes them look metallic.

The articulation is OUTSTANDING. You can pretty much set this figure in any pose you like, specially with the aid of the stand, and that includes ninja kicks. Frankly, the only thing this figure cannot do is stick its head inside its shell, which, naturally, would have been too much to ask.

The only problem I had was that the articulation for the shoulders took a while to make work. I had to stick a small blade in them to get them to rotate, because I was afraid that if I forced it they might break. Thankfully, no such thing happened.

I'm really happy with this figure. I will be getting the rest as soon as I have the chance, and so should you, weird stranger who's reading this and somehow taking it as unmissable advice.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have a way of popping up every few years with fun new ideas while still maintaining their original charm of being four, fun loving teenagers which are quite proficient in the martial arts. I still remember first discovering the TMNT on the shelf of a toy story my grandmother always took me to and for some reason they captivated me. Perhaps it was the numerous weapons they came with, the colorful packaging, or the weird variety of characters in that first wave of action figures? Whatever the case, I'm thrilled the TMNT are still around and in the middle of making another huge comeback. With IDW publishing an excellent monthly comic and reprinting nice collected versions of the original black and white comics, a new cartoon from Nickelodeon premiering soon, and a movie on the horizon, this seems like the perfect time for Playmates to jump in and play off of the nostalgia of adult fans who first encountered the turtles as children. With the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Classic Collection, Playmates has done much what Mattel has done with Masters of the Universe Classics, Bandai with the Thundercats vintage collection, and Hasbro with the Star Wars vintage collection, the G.I. Joe 25th anniversary line, and certain Transformers releases: Recreate beloved vintage action figures in a larger scale with modern articulation and detail. These turtles are recreations of the original action figures with a smattering of detail from the cartoon series. I think Playmates has been highly successful in their endeavor, but read on to learn more about how they have handled my favorite turtle, Raphael:

Positives:

*I've said it in my review of the other turtles in this line, but I love everything about the sculpts in this series.
