Halloween Book Festival ~ Award Winner ~ Horror

"From its gut-grabbing prologue to its explosive conclusion, Goss's spine-tingling debut story gives new meaning to the phrase 'A blood-curdling adventure'." - Foreword Clarion Review

"This novel has romance, action, drama and a lot of thrills for readers who love horror novels. You can actually feel your skin crawl when you read scenes about spiders. I loved Sara;she is relatable and she is strong." --Rabia Tanveer, Readers' Favorite Reviewer

Let me start off by saying if you are not a fan of spiders this book is not going to be your cup of tea. I truly fell into this story, it has a very unique story line and characters. Sara realizes her boyfriend, Conner, is not everything she thought he was. While traveling after leaving him she meets Brett. Brett introduces her into a whole new world, one that's packed full of spiders. I usually don't read book descriptions and am glad when I get a rare gem like this one. It will break up the monotony of your reading library. Yes it has romance, danger and paranormal beings, but boy are they unique in this book!! Great read, I will be looking forward to more books by this author.

This book places the reader right into the story from practically the first page, and I found myself reading half of it in one sitting because the characters, the story line, and the mystery had such a great pull on me I just had to find out what happens next. The story is told from the point of view of an independent and strong female protagonist Sara Jones who is desperately trying to make sense of her life in light of all the unexpected things happening to her lately.

Sara comes alive on the page and the author did a great job of getting inside her head and showing her emotions and innermost thoughts, so the reader is right there with her as her story unfolds. I don’t like to give spoilers in my reviews, but I will say that this is one of the most unique paranormal romances I have read in quite a while. The world this takes place in is meticulously constructed, and the language flows so well I had no trouble picturing the scenes in my head as they unfolded. It is also fast paced and packed with action and twists, which keep you guessing right until the end.

Highly recommended for all fans of paranormal romance and urban fantasy!

The Tegen Cave, a novel by Inge-Lise Goss, is just under 270 pages in length and available in paperback, Kindle, ebook.

The story opens with a murder. Not some boring gun shot or knife slash ... but a murder via spider bite. Now that the author has your attention, she executes an adrenaline filled escape. Sara Jones, an independent twenty-something, escapes from a crime family involved in child trafficking, drugs, all nasty stuff Sara just doesn't want to be part of her life. With no particular destination in mind, and on the advice of seemingly innocuous fellow bus passengers met along her journey, Sara settles in Montana, hoping to leave the horrid world behind. Shortly, while ensconced in a hotel and getting ready to apartment hunt, Sara is befriended by a handsome, nice guy.

Enter more spiders. Lots of spiders.

At this point, the reader, and Sara, are forced into suspecting everybody. Who can Sara trust? Who is out to get her? Is the crime family killing people with spiders? Is the crime family the good guys and Sara is being sucked into a `spider cult'? Why is she immune to the spider bite that will paralyze and kill someone else? Why is she having a different physical reaction? As the pages are quickly turned in this story, you'll be artfully swayed, completely convinced you know where Goss is headed, then boom ... wrong turn. What fun!!

Not recommended as a young adult book. Although tastefully done, and most detail left to the reader imagination, there is considerable sex some may consider gratuitous, but it is all part of the story of the Tegen species and the character development of Sara.

The Tegen Cave has it all: horror ... spiders, lots and lots of spiders, science fiction, mystery, romance, thriller, paranormal ... and best of all ... magic!

Let me first start off by saying that I have a phobia of spiders called Arachnophobia. As I read this story, my skin constantly crawled, with chills, the more I read this book. There were times, that I admit, that I did have to put this story aside for a couple of days, due to my fears of spiders. I did take me a lot longer to finish this book due to my fears and nightmares.

Secondly, I really enjoyed the physical, psychological, and emotional twists and turns of the story. It's a refreshing and amazing new look on a common phobia with a wild and unforgettable ride that will keep you entertained, intrigued, and addicted from beginning to end. Make sure to fasten your seat belt and that your hands and feet stay in this remarkable ride at all times. This author was really good at her attention to detail so much that I would have nightmares.

I highly recommend this story to any who love a creepy and twisted story that will entice and lure you to keep reading, though I do admit that this book is not for the faint of heart.

The Tegen Cave is a gripping book that had my attention from beginning to end. Caution is advised if you don't like spiders as they feature prominently throughout the book. The book has a great cast of characters that are all well written and arc well throughout the book. There is a great element of mystery in the book too as Sara starts to wonder who she can trust and everybody becomes a suspect. A highly recommended read with a unique and well-written story.
