"Telstar" by The Tornados is one of the most interesting collections of music I have heard in a long time. Dating from the early 60's, the songs are way ahead of their time. Some are classically influenced, jazz infused, even a little rockabilly thrown in for good measure. The highlights include "Telstar," for its space age sound, "Too Much in Love to Hear," with its almost Renaissance appeal, and "Pop Art Goes Mozart," which is pure classical fun. Also of note is "Hot Pot" with its boiling and bubbling sound affects and "Aqua Marina," the distorted sound of which combined with deep sea sound effects give the listener the eerie feeling of being submerged in water! As a fan of British Invasion and progressive rock, this album can be enjoyed along with the best of those genres.

I think this is a great CD. The sound is good to me played through my Bose. Several cuts were new to me as this group only had two hits, which are both on this album. Jungle Fever was on the flip side of Telstar and The breeze and I (an old Tommy Dorsey number) was on the flip of ridin' the Wind. The others cuts sound good as well and Theme from a Summer Place has a nice touch to it. Buy and enjoy.

I'm an old guy, but the very first record I ever got was a Christmas present from my sister called Telstar by the Tornadoes. Still have it and still love it. So, when I saw this CD, I thought, "Wow! I can listen to it without 40 years of static!" I'm very disappointed in the pressing, very trebly and sloppily mastered, or maybe that's the way it originally sounded, and I have only a nostagia-attached feeling toward it. Surely, there's a better pressing somewhere. This one stinks.

I loved all of the Tornados works when I was a teenager and was happy to find this cd so that I could once again enjoy Telstar and other hits by this group. Love to reminisce.

I was so happy to find this one for my husband. We were teenagers in the sixties and this was some of our favorite music.
