Love can do a number on you, if you don't get a handle on it. They let love get away 13 years ago, and Vann was determined not to let Brooklyn slip away a 2nd time. They both had things going on (parent issues, not feeling loved, different outlooks, divorce, etc) and it just wasn't their time. Growing up and becoming mature adults needed to happen first.
I can definitely identify with this setting as I attended and graduate from a HBCU. Things happen during Homecoming and sometimes it's in your favor. I can say that the author accurately decscribed "Homecoming " at a Black College. Every single detail was portrayed to a "T."
To The Reader- no review I give will prepare you for this story, you just have to read it.
The end.
