I am 55 yrs. old and have been fly fishing since I was 12. I used my first combo outfit for the biggest part of my life, which consisted of a South Bend click & pawl drag reel and a hollow fiberglass rod untill it broke. For numerous years I've been a loyal user of Bass Pro brand "White River" since they were within my price range. They're performance is about what you'd expect for the money, not to say they're junk because they do get the job done, but like I read once,"When it comes to fly fishing gear...you get what you pay for". Recently I sold one of my fly fishing outfits to move up to something in the better quality range. I purchased a G Loomis Venture model 7 reel. Then after doing research on fly rods I fell in love with the Temple Fork Outfitters Lefty Kreh Signature Series 9ft 8# 2pc.(Plus I saw one in person at my local Bass Pro Shop and couldn't believe how beautiful it was. I found it for $105.00 new when everyone else was asking $119.00, which I think was a good deal. I live in southern Indiana so there's no trout fishing here. Just panfish and bass. So I took it to my local white-water stream, put my waders on and went to work. My first reaction was amazement. With every cast, the rod loaded so nicely and the 8 weight line glided freely through the eyelets like greased lightning, unrolling smoothly as it lay gently on the water. What a nice fly rod,and beautiful too with it's glossy emerald green finish, and since I can't afford a 3 to 8 hundred dollar rod, I think it's performance is excellent. In fact...I'm thinking of getting a second one in the 5/6 weight just for panfish. I would definitely recommend the Temple Fork Signature Series if you want a good fly rod but can't afford to spend an arm and a leg on one. This is a medium/fast rod.Read more ›

I own 15 different fly rods: #s 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 10.

They are composed of many different brands: Orvis, L.L. Bean, St. Croix, Thomas & Thomas, Scientific Angler,
and Reddington. I have used these rods for lakes, streams, estuaries, and open water in California, Colorado,
Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Washington, Bahamas, British Columbia, New Zealand,
Scotland, and many other places.

In short, I have a lot of experience with high, medium, and low end rods, in many different situations. I have
spent a great deal of time, over the years, looking for what I consider to be the best value for quality in a
rod.

Without a doubt, and no second guessing, Temple Fork Outfitter's Lefty Kreh Signature rod, is that rod!
It has the quality of a Thomas & Thomas, St. Croix and Orvis product, but the value, in dollars, far less than
the cost of those companies and others!

You do not need to spend extra money to possess a quality rod. The Lefty Kreh Signature rod makes casting easy
and the rod action is perfect. When fitted with the proper reel, it is well balanced, and the feel in your hand
while casting, and retrieving feels like a rod that is much more expensive, and you find yourself asking,
"Why would anyone spend the money for a higher end rod, when you have the quality in a Temple Fork Outfitter rod."

In fact, after my first Temple Fork purchase (a 9', 8wt, two piece rod), I immediately ordered two of the same rods
for friends in Scotland, and purchased 3 more(4 piece 5, 6, and 8 wts), for myself.

In addition, Temple Fork provides a replacement for the life of the rod, for a minimum amount and postage!
You will not be disappointed in the Temple Fork Rod!

Tight lines.

Got the new TFO fly rod today and the package was in such poor condition the UPS driver asked me to open it and inspect the contents for damage. The triangle shipping carton had been broken on two sides, but somehow the rod escaped damage (to my relief). The UPS driver even commented he didn't understand why they would ship a fly rod in such a flimsy package.

I only gave 4 stars because of the packaging!

The rod itself is a great rod at a bargain price, and the seller did ship quickly. I just wish they would have used a heavy walled round tube instead of a flimsy lightweight triangular box. No problem with the rod or the seller's service, just a miracle the rod arrived unbroken in that packaging!

Not a Winston or Orvis, but about the same for a third of the price. I couldn't find one this small and light anywhere else unless I wanted to special order it for $600.

I cant say enough about this company. I havn't broken my rod yet but their return and fix policy is amazing. just send it to them with $25 and they replace it. I love the rod too. its perfect for striped bass and blues on Long Island Sound. I also caught a few Fluke on it in the bay. Love fishing

I got this fly rod for my 6 year old..... he loves this rod and its his go-to panfish rod now. The price is good and the product is better! I cant complain about the price, my other fly rods all retail $450+, so if he breaks this one, I wont cry.
