Disc Three is a DVD with five videos. They look like projects of film school students -- very arty. I found only one of them to be somewhat interesting. It seemed to be a shaggy dog story about a spiky alien blob. Unfortunately the DVD doesn't play in a CD player.
The Ipecac CD case is four-fold cardboard with sleeves, no jewel case inserts. The photography and artwork is stunning, apropos the dark music.
It was hearing The Deal (2015), the superb album by Aaron Turner's latest band Sumac, that led me back to this Isis compilation. If you've heard their albums and want more, Temporal is highly recommended.
If I was talking to person who hadn'tg been introducted to Isis, I would first send them to Panopticon and then Wavering Radiant, but if you are a seasoned Isis fan, this this set is a must, if you get the edition with the DVD, it is magnificent if you werent ablet o catch them live at a show to be able to see what it was like. I hope like, may other bamds that split up, eventually they reform and tour and make new music together, Isis, was something really special.
My personal highlight is the "epic" 16 minute long Grey Divide. It starts off with a "happy" melody only to be dissolved into distortion and something dark by the end. Really nice. Other pieces that most people haven't had access to digitally are Way Through Woven Branches and Pliable Foe, which are both excellent songs. The instrumental Ghost Key and acoustic / instrumental 20 Minutes / 40 Years are nice listens as well. If you add the two covers, there is already a lot on there that most Isis fans haven't heard before.
Including some of the demos like Carry or False Light may be overkill, since there are so many better live and studio recordings of these two pieces out there.
If you are new to Isis, I would recommend starting with one of their full length albums, or even Isis Live 6, which has little bit of everything.
As always, the artwork and presentation are excellent. And so was the move to provide everyone with a free access download code after the initial problem. Good work, Isis!
While I've given two Isis albums 5 Star Ratings (Oceanic and Panopticon), I haven't given any other album a 3-star rating aside from their initial EP, Mosquito Control.Read more ›

A good mix of random outtakes, demos and lost tracks from the late great ISIS. The missing bonus tracks can be downloaded for free from Ipecac's website.Published on January 15, 2013 by tha E
This is a good rarities collection. It's not for the casual fan or for someone new to the band or genre, but if you're hardcore into the band this is a must.Published on January 14, 2013 by TJ
