I swear this book gave me whiplash. We start out in the prologue with this heavy, gritty, gripping look at Mac’s life. I was all set for a really great story of overcoming adversity. But then…..we flash forward a few years and I was a little stunned.
Here’s the thing – I love non-virginal heroines. I get really sick of virgins or near-virgins or women who just need the love (and tongue) of a good man to break free from their frigidity and love sex. I like a heroine who likes sex. So please don’t think I’m slut-shaming Mac here. I actually love that part of her personality – or, I do right up until she meets Daniel.
Now, don’t worry, she’s not a cheater. BUT, the story is told with a lot of flashbacks. So we’ve got Mac & Daniel having this really great, sweet romance. Mac isn’t into the love thing, but it’s still sweet. But we also get a lot of sexual flashbacks to her previous partners. And while I’m cool within knowing they happened, the explicit details of them makes the book feel like sex-scenes-for-the-sake-of-sex-scenes. You know I love smut, but I didn’t love the way that was done.
And then there’s Mac’s inability to deal with her emotions. Once or twice, I could deal. But that last time? Well, both Daniel and I were pretty peeved. Which brings me to Daniel.
Delicious Daniel is, indeed, delicious. His does this thing where he wants to be everything Mac wants and it’s so hot and sweet at the same time, I love it. But we also get very little info about him. I really would have liked some of his POV, or even some of his history. I just wanted more character development from him.
It’s really not bad for a first book, especially for free.

WOW!!! The disclaimer for this book was spot on. That is the only reason I bought this book before reading any reviews or even reading a sample like I normally do. Superman aka Daniel is every woman's super hero. I loved how he was and is with Mac. He took his time with her and even sensed before she told him that she is the commitment phobia type. He learned on his own how to handle her freak outs and what she needed from him. He gave her what Sean, Noah, and Zander gave her and more. All she needed to learn was to open her heart and let him be what she needed. That is what I loved about this book. I normally am not one for a lot of inner head monologue but with Mac it was necessary. Especially if you want to fully understand where she is coming from. This book definitely has a lot of sex in it and the sexual tension that Superman and Mac experienced in the first few dates was beyond words. I just wanted her to lose her bet with Kate and get it on with the man of steel. Then again it did lead to an amazing scene later so I am thankful for that.

This book is definitely a must read book. I can't wait to see what happens later with them. I do want to read more about Kate and Zander though. I really like him and see where that goes since there is something there but not wanting to admit yet.

After reading the blurb, I thought this would be a perfect book and series for me. I love silly, snarky, strong heroines, and the promise of super sexy times had me eager to meet Mac and Daniel. I loved the idea of the girl being the commitment-phobe and playgirl. However, this ended up being not my thing.

I struggled to ever like Mac. I didn't understand the refusal to leave the first bf, and I really couldn't go along with that experience making her so scared of relationships; but everyone handles things differently, so I tried to roll with it. She never came across as a truly sweet person though, so I kept feeling the hero was getting shafted. In fact, I thought she came across the way she described Noah.

I didn't really find the humor that funny. It seemed more ditzy humor, I guess, maybe immature. I also struggled with the narration voice and writing style. It's written like Mac is talking to a friend, not bad, but it was overly stream of consciousness for my taste. Add in repetitive phrasing and descriptions, and I had to stop myself from skimming. On top of this there were enough editing/spelling/grammar errors, that I became distracted.

As for the sexy times, they certainly didn't have me squirming or reaching for my husband. However, this may be due to my disconnect with the heroine and writing style. Finally, the ending sealed my rating. I just didn't get it at all. I didn't feel like much character/relationship growth happened in light of all the characters worked through.

Everyone has their preferred writing/narration style and their own sense of humor, so I'm sure there are plenty of fans. For me, I needed more snark and less ditz.

The story starts off dark and sad. Makenna aka Mac, was in a bad relationship with her high school boyfriend. She's finally had enough and gets the hell out

4 years later........
This lucky girl has 3 men in her penis harem!!!

Theres Noah, a resident doctor at the hospital she works at. She's a nurse.
There's Sean, an older gentleman who she gets the Dom treatment from
And rounding out the harem is Zander, the flirtatious male stripper.
All know about each other. And all know Mac is a huge commitment phobe

The book is about Mac and promises she made to herself. 1) never let a man dictate her life. 2) never again let love lead her astray.

Well, she lets Sean dictate in the bedroom but she's ok with that. It's rule#2 that's she holds onto with a vice grip.
After work, on the train ride home she meets guy#4 delicious Daniel. Oh, sexy man in a suite that's also an investment banker with a dirty mouth! Mac can go toe to toe with him. Their banter was so freaking cute and funny. Mac is the kinda girl you want to be friends with. Her bff Kate is equally as funny and dirty. She gives Mac a challenge. 3 date rule, no sex.....

So they make it through the 3 dates and what do you know!! Feelings are getting involved and the sex is HOT, but Mac the stubborn bitch is either freaking out or running away. Daniel is a great guy. There's nothing you won't like about him. You get a small taste of the other 3 men in the harem but they don't have a strong presence in the book. Once Daniel entered the story, it's a game of cat and mouse that was fun to read. Mac had some serious shit to work through and poor Daniel had so much passion for her, he put up with a lot of her crap. This was a fun, cute, quick read with some great banter. The next book is her bff Kate's.
