About the author

Kenna Kendrick is an American based author of Historical Scottish Romance living in Austin Texas with her husband and three children. Her, more than 25-year-old, experience as an English Teacher has brought her close to the literary world, growing her love for fictional stories.
Her love for literature was also strong because of her father John, who used to write crime-stories. While she tried following on her father’s footsteps, a trip to Scotland sealed the deal, as she fell in love with the Celtic myths and the bleak Highlands.

Julia Bradford is a young Englishwoman trapped by the circumstances brought on by the premature death of her parents. Her amazing intellectual gifts and aura of kindness are disregarded by most, relegated as inconsequential because of her status as chattel. Julia becomes a pawn in her guardian uncle's dark quest for money, power, and an urge to control her captivating beauty. Julia's powerless role is, of course, due to the societal restrictions imposed on young, unmarried women.
The hero of the story, Calum MacLean, is an exciting contrast. Blessed with physical beauty on the surface, we find a young Scottish laird, deeply troubled by his role, lacking confidence, and unsure of the direction necessary for his life and the welfare of the clan.
I liked the virtues, flaws, and hesitant strength of the main characters. The underlying theme of the clan, helping one another to achieve success in the face of great adversity, imparts a timely message for people to heed during these difficult times.
Enjoy the escape to the Highlands with a lovely couple finding romance. While you're there, perhaps you can learn a little bit about how kindness and goodwill can go a long way towards dealing with adversity.
Julia was on the tun escaping her uncle and her betrothed. A man twice her age.
Calum, laird of Clan MacLeod carried a heavy heart for four years after his wife's betrayal. His clan was barely surviving as winter approached. He had to step up and be a leader putting his grief aside. His brother Angus has been carrying Calum's weight too long.
While searching for meat for the winter Angus and his men found a nearly frozen English lass in the woods. If his instincts are right then his brother and his clan might survive the upcoming winter.
When money, lies and lust gets in the way lives of the clan are being threatened by Uncle Andrew and the General.
Loved the characters.
A man kept entering her dreams. A man holding out his arms and calling to her for help.
Calumn Maclean was losing his home and his clan. He stood on the walls of his keep he envisions a vision in white coming across the water to save him and his people.
When the cold wet and frightened young woman turned out to be an English lady The proud Scotsman wanted nothing to do with her. Julia used her abilities to help his clan and the man she had seen in her vision.
love honor and marriage to the man fate brought to her was short lived when Uncle Andrew found and dragged her away.
Julie had a choice forced into marriage with an English general or have the people she came to love lose everything they have.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book--did not want to put it down. Action and intrigue throughout with some humor thrown in as well. Looking forward to Angus' and Charlotte's story as the extended epilogue alludes to.
