However, their mutual friend has arranged for Fran to work with Luca over the summer: Fran trains therapy dogs, and is going to work with Luca's niece, who is in a wheelchair. Career path changed by the accident that disabled her, Luca is renovating some land to create a medical treatment facility for disabled patients, which has its grand opening part way through Fran's stay.
I liked that their romance is balanced by the questions of whether the clinic will be ready in time, and then whether it will be a success. Fran is a lovely woman who always sees the best in everything and is always trying to help with anything she can at the clinic. However, I have a problem with Luca. Their relationship is very 'sparky', they argue despite being very attracted to each other, but I noticed halfway through the book that Luca will be thinking about some nice, thoughtful thing Fran is doing, and how she's so wonderful, then he'll snap out something grumpy and hurtful at her, then immediately be thinking that he regrets it. He does it again and again and again. I think if he really did regret it, he would have stopped doing it. To me, it did not read as a healthy, happy relationship and I couldn't buy in to Luca being an appealing hero, or the two of them having a happily-ever-after with the way he was shown in this book. By the end, I could believe that the ending was the start of his redemption, but I would have liked to see the change on the page, rather than being left to imagine it.
This is getting a solid 5 out of 10 from me. There are elements of a sweet romance, and a nice secondary plot with the clinic, but it's a pretty straightforward story, and the hero being a dick so much of the time was very off-putting.

Francesca Martinelli saw Luca Montovano at his best friend’s wedding. She stood out as she was the one to basically stop that wedding from taking place. There next meeting was at his mountainside clinic for paraplegics.
Francesca had always dreamed of having a place to raise dogs who would help wounded patients. She came up to the clinic with 2 dogs to help Luca’s teenage niece who had been in a bad accident. She is now a paraplegic. Can Luca put aside his feelings toward Francesca and let her help his niece?
Luca has learned over the years to push people away and especially away from his heart.
Annie O’Neil has written a beautiful love story of Luca and his niece and of Luca and Francesca.
Francesca knows her job at the clinic is temporary but she hopes to be another stepping stone toward her goal. She had no idea on the way to the clinic that she would be working for Luca.
This story talks about the trials and tribulations of paraplegic patients, of loneliness of Luca’s niece who is an orphan, and a love story that develops between Luca and Francesca.
Please enjoy this story and check out the next story by this author, Claiming His Pregnant Princess.
Fran is bridesmaid for her best friend Beatrice at a huge society wedding and she feels a little out of place you see jeans t-shirts and dogs make Fran happy and when she caused the upset of all upsets at the wedding well the best man Luca is a little put off with her, they will never be friends according to Luca. Fran is just about to start a new job at a clinic in the mountains for disabled young people with the help of her assistance dogs Freda and Edison, oh but when she gets there she is in for on very big surprise.
Luca is working hard to keep the clinic going and get it finished, he is also trying to spend as much time as he can with his niece Pia he truly is stressed and the last thing he expects when the friend of Beatrice’s arrives with her assistance dogs is the bridesmaid Francesca but there is a spark between them that continues to brighten as they work together soon they are more than Doctor and staff but only during the nights but the pressure is growing.
Oh my goodness this is such a fabulous story truly Fran is one of the best heroines that I have ever “met” she is loving caring and so happy even with what she has gone through and she and her dogs (who I also Loved) are the answer to a lot of things for Luca and Pia who also have a lot to overcome and Luca is really a true hero. This book has so much happiness weaving through the pages, and there is love and caring, tears and laughter just the recipe for a great medical romance thank you MS O’Neil for a story that will stay with me for a long time to come.
