I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this book but it goes live September 16!
This is book 2 in the copper creek shifters series and it is everything I expected it to be which is good since I LOVED book 1! I recommend reading in order due to an overarching storyline.
In a nutshell, this story is a cutesy fated mate shifter romance that happens in the midst of town drama and tragic murder!
Book 2 was a little more grim than book 1. This story had murder and mayhem and tragic backstories. The romance also had drama which was a nice shake up to the instalove fated mate trope.
My biggest complaint was the ending. I wanted MORE! An epilogue or the first chapter of the next book because it was just so abrupt. I mean it was a good ending but more would have left me more satisfied while I await book 3!
Jacki James give us MORE! I can't wait for the next book!
This is the second book in the series and I would recommend reading them in order.
I had high expectations but did the author deliver? Hell yeah!
Tate always wanted a fated mate whereas, Hollis was perfectly fine being a loner. What happens when fate takes over?
Tate took his duties seriously especially, when it came to solving the murders. However, he was completely different when he took on his Lynx form; his playful nature was adorable. Hollis called Tate his “kitty” and it was a nickname that truly suited him.
Hollis took his sweet time coming to his senses. When he gave into the desire that was burning fiercely between them, it was beautiful and explosive.
Fantastic book! Looking forward to the next book which I’m hoping will be about a certain owl.
The one thing Tate wanted for himself was a mate who wanted him for him and loved him for who he was. Quirks and all. He is a bit OCD about some things, but it’s just makes him even better at what he does. But everything right now is going to hell in a handbasket with these murders popping up and the kidnapping a few months ago. And now, he’s just met his mate, Hollis, and the dude is a rude punk. Go figure Fate wouldn’t give him what he desired and needed. Fate had to stick him with an butt and someone who wasn’t even going to attempt to stick around. But while Hollis is there as an enforcer to find out the truth to what the council is saying, he’s finding things aren’t quite adding up and too many things are a bit too much of a coincidence. All while trying to fight the pull to his mate. He didn’t even believe in mates before, but there’s no denying the pull from Tate and their lynxes. But Hollis has no intention of staying and he feels he should have the right to choose to accept his mate or not. So not only are the murders up in the air, along with more kidnapping, he doesn’t know what to do about his mate. Because his shifter is ticked at the thought of him leaving.
You know, fated mates has always had me tied up. I am almost like Hollis, to a point. I love the thought of fated mates. I really do. But what if your fated mate is really a bad person or an absolute butthead wanting power. You should have the right to choose to accept and not feel forced to claim the other person. But I also want Tate to have someone who loves him the way he needs so I agree with Hollis as well in that he doesn’t know if he can be who Tate needs to be because of his own past. So, it’s kind of a catch 22. But I know they work well together. And I liked these guys. Genuinely loved them. Hollis comes across as a bit of a d**k, but there’s also a purpose behind what he does and why. Because things he does, gets to the root of a problem, usually pretty quickly. But what I hate about both of these guys, is they don’t have enough confidence in themselves to feel they are worthy enough or enough for their mate. They need confidence in themselves and in each other to do the right things. And learn that they are different from everyone else.
I realllllllly need book 3. I hope to all there is in the world there is a book 3 coming soon or I may cry. There’s just too much left that needs answers and too many people that need help. I’m really loving this series and how it’s going. So I’m ready for more.
The issue with the council and the Association is ongoing, and I am quite intrigued by the situation (and I want to see the Association go DOWN). I love that the clan is growing, and I especially want to know what is happening with Dimas and Hazz! I am definitely looking forward to what is coming in the future in Copper Creek.
