You know how you can watch a movie over and over, then you see things you don't remember the first dozen times you watched it? Well that's the way it is with the bible. Now I know why people, I thought was extreme, read the bible every year of their lives. You always see something new. It's wonderful.
Thanks Benjamin. Keep writing and I'll keep reading the bible as well as your books.
As you study these miracles you gain historical information and added insights that make passages come alive as never before. He discovered in his lengthly study of each of all the miracles that nearly every person that experienced a miracle exhibited humility, obedience, sacrifice, and determination. There are great practical lessons to be learned from these accounts such as the following:
*Humility moves the heart of God
*The unified faith of believers can achieve much
*Non-comprising yields great rewards
*God's delays are not necessarily His denials
*God empowers us to do what needs to be done
Miracles, Reynolds believes, can be a regular occurrence working through our lives as we exercise faith. You will be strengthened in your faith in realizing how God works intricately in our lives so that we can give Him glory and/ or display His power for others to draw closer to Him.
I highly recommend this book as solid study and clear points convey the Sovereignty of God in all affairs and how He delights to bless His people. I found myself seeing deeper into the heart of God which resulted in me loving Him even more.
Mr. Reynolds explains what Jesus meant in Matthew 18:19-20. When two or more people agree that a matter is serious enough to be brought before the throne of God so that it can be established on the earth, God takes it more seriously than when one person makes the request. He likened this to the government taking more seriously a petition signed by a group of people rather than one person alone. He does a great job of including modern-day analogies to explain the Scriptures.
He also points out that prayer is the necessary component to compel us to go forward toward God's will, especially when we are resisting it. Using James 5:16 as an example, he encourages us to never underestimate the power that one righteous person has with God. He says, "When God sees us giving everything we have in prayer, He will match our efforts and give us His best."
Mr. Reynolds also shows us that worshipping God and exalting His magnificence and power should be a key element in any prayer. Giving God glory and honor motivates Him to grant us favor. God is able to do more than deliver us when we put our complete trust in Him. The elements of each of the ten prayers are examined, and the reason why each one was powerful. People in the Bible used prayer in different ways, such as a weapon of defense, or as a healing force.
Insightfully written, a good reference book for doing a study on prayer.
