About the Author

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Ron Coury arrived in Las Vegas in 1973, following two years of service in the U.S. Marine Corps. Ron has been a casino dealer and a Realtor, as well as a partner in restaurants and gaming bars, major graphics and glass companies, and several automobile dealerships in the western United States. He is currently a board member of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Foundation, as well as several companies and charitable organizations. He has three children and five grandchildren and remains active in business and community service endeavors throughout Southern Nevada.

In disclosure, I helped Ron with gaming regulatory issues in Nevada for about 25 years. I was very young attorney when we met and was involved in many battles. I will always remember that everytime Ron called my first thought was which Goliath was on the menu this time. Congratulations on crafting a wonderful, engaging and well written memoir of a very interesting time in our mutually adopted city of Las Vegas.

This was a fast paced true story of a man fighting against all odds to achieve the american dream. Always taking the right path even through adversity. Sticking up for your rights and never quitting is a lesson to be learned from this book. It would have been easier and less expensive for him to give in and play along with the dirty system. Giving in to corruption however, wouldn't be true to his upbringing, the Marine code and the man that he is. I'd love to read the pages he had to cut!!! Please ask him to consider releasing a second book and put me down for an advance order!!!! I hope he keeps the same humor he expressed in Tenacity. A must read for anyone wanting an insight to the early and not so early days of Valley politics. GREAT BOOK!!!!

My name is Lia and Ron Coury is my cousin. I have known him all of my life, although we left Brooklyn when I was 3, and knew what a decent man and hard worker he has always been. I just read his book and realized that, although I knew some of these stories, I had no idea of the breadth and depth of his life. I remember many of the relatives in the book and am sure everything he said about them is absolutely true: the stories fit in with family lore. I now love and respect my cousin Ron more than ever. I hope many people read this book; it will inspire them to work for their dreams and try new things without fear.
