Say what you will about Oh! Great's storytelling, but if there's one thing everyone can agree on is the fact that the man can draw. It's almost a shame that some of these images are forced to be on two pages and not included as a fold-out poster because they are that gorgeous. I counted a total number of 12 times my eyes went from ._. to 0_0 because of some piece of the art; pieces that I repeatedly went back to and just stared at because it made me wonder why other manga don't look this pretty. No question about it, Oh! Great is a fantastic artist and Ten Ten has some of the prettiest art by far.
Fan service and nudity is kept at a surprisingly low minimum. I thought I was in for tons when a boob appeared literally two pages in, but I was wrong. There was no crude sexual humor either which was a bit of a surprise to me to be honest. I would say that in terms of fan service and nudity, this volume is the most tame on.
The action in this volume trades pure violence for pure style. Some of these fights are still violent, (one ending with a character's arm literally exploding in beautifully gory detail) but the majority of it is hand to hand (or hand to sword) combat which leaves out the weapons that would usually slice and dice. Like the art, the action here is bold and in your face. What makes it better is that more people get a chance to fight here.Read more ›
