Editorial Reviews

Review

Quick, charming read
(Verified Purchase)
"Really enjoyed this story. Clean language, likeable characters, and a fast moving plot to keep things interesting. Can't wait to read some of her other work." - SB

From the Author

My friend met a young man in this manner on the freeway, and I used what happened to her for the beginning of this story. Football is the underlying background for this book, but the main issue is trust. Alison does not trust men because of her mother's many marriages. She finds it hard to trust a man who doesn't live next door to her. Enjoy this one, then pass it on to the man in your life.

I did like both characters, but found their situation so unbelievable. I realize there are grown women out there that avoid intimacy until late into their relationships, but this was too much! This woman was so conceited about her beauty, yet her love interest said she didn't even realize it. Too many contradictions and her failure to trust was excessive.

This book started off with a bit of promise. Unusual meeing place for Alison & Logan. Not many people would think of the sign language use which I thought was a great thing to have in a book. Differenct from other stories. However Logan (or Josh being his first name) sounded great. Can see why he thought to keep hidden what he did for a living however the character of Alison I thought was a total whinging bore. Talk about really not putting your self out there. Thought the story was a bit long winded. And if you are looking for any hot romance this book is not for you. They hardly even kiss and it takes age for Alison even to let Logan get to 1st base! I downloaded this book as I love sport related stories but I wouldn't go back to read this one.

If you are looking for hot sexual romances, then Nancy Radke's books are not for you. However, if you are looking for clean, sweet romance between a strong hero and a fragile heroine who has trust issues then you will love this book! Our hero is a professional football player who meets our heroine in a most unique and unusual way! He discovers during their first encounter that she hares football due to a personal family tragedy and decides to hide his occupation from her so he can get a chance to see where their initial attraction will lead. That's all I'll say about the plot! You'll have to read it for yourself to see how this story develops!! I loved it and couldn't put it down!

Alison meets Logan on the freeway when they share sign language. He falls for her immediately, but she is very self-protective. She hates football so he keeps the fact that he is a professional quarterback a secret until he wins her heart. Meanwhile someone is killing and injuring football players and Logan becomes a target. Will Alison give in to love? Will she become a victim along with Logan? Radke has created a great plot and characters with depth.

I really wanted to like this book, I love football, I'm married to a pilot and I live in the Seattle area (not far from the Alderwood Mall)but all these things actually contributed to my not liking this book. To start with I could find nothing endearing about the heroine, she's cold, she's closed off and I don't see why any man (especially one who could have any woman he wanted)would want to try to penetrate the shell she built around herself. The avation was REALLY bad, especially since a single pilot cannot fly any jet aircraft (all jets are 2 pilot cockpits) it could have been a turbo-prop and that can have a single pilot but usually still has two or a regular twin prop which is fine with just one pilot but it would take quite a bit of time to get from Green Bay to Seattle. The football was almost non existant except to add to the angst of "she'll hate me if I tell her what I do". The local geography was ok, but seemed outdated...and Seattle drivers are NOT polite (at least not anymore). Personally I think he should have just left her alone after the mace incident and found someone better but I guess that would have been a pretty short book. All in all the only thing I liked about this book was the much less angsty relationship between their best friends and that really didn't take up much of the story at all.

Love this series by Nancy Radke! Got one as a freebie and had to go back and collect the whole series. They're fine as a stand alone book, but you get a much richer experience when you read them in order.

This book was a little slow at the beginning. Once it got going I have to admit there were some interesting scenes that
I haven't come across in all the books I've read. There were some insecurities in the characters that I felt a little far fetched but, maybe it's just me. Overall, it's a good book, with a football team from Green Bay..a good plot..what else do you need!

A rating of five stars is deserving because of the authors creativity and control of the characters involved in the story. As a good story should, it gets more interesting and exciting, chapter by chapter. It would make a great movie.
