From Lala’s Book Reviews

I’m just going to go ahead and say that you don’t stand a chance against Christian Harper. Like you may go in thinking that you’ll hate him because he’s this cold hearted man who will do anything no matter the cost (and it’s true that he will), but he’ll have you wrapped around his finger so quickly that you’ll get whiplash.

When was the last time that I have fallen so hard and quickly for a book boyfriend? I don’t know, but the first time that I met Christian, I knew that I was in trouble because he is the definition of morally gray.

Now this is the last book in the Twisted series where each book follows a different couple from a girl friend group from college throughout the years, and the only book that I’ve fully read was Twisted Love with Ava and Alex and some of Twisted Games with Bridget and Rhys. I loves Twisted Love and what I’ve read of Twisted Games, but Twisted Lies is like next level. The entire time that I read this book, I was in a chokehold with Stella and Christian.

It is best that you read the books in order because time in the books move along as the books progresses and past couples are a part of this book, so it is kind of spoilery.

Stella is the dreamer of her family and has even gone as far as to act on her dreams by entering the fashion world by working for fashion magazine, modeling, and blogging and being a fashion influencer. She’s built a pretty solid following, but she wants to be a designer. She lives in D.C. in Christian’s apartment complex and can count the number of times that she has spoken to him on one hand, but fate has an odd way of changing things up when they strike up a deal to start fake dating as a mutual benefit thing.

Christian now has someone to go to galas and events with him, and Stella hopes that having a boyfriend to the public eye will help her gain traction in the influencing world to help her land a monumental job opportunity. The only catch is that neither one of them are supposed to fall in love with the other which shouldn’t be to hard given that Christian doesn’t believe in love and that Stella is all so familiar with him.

Christian is well aware that Stella is his one of the very few things in his life that brings him happiness, and he knows that she is a distraction when there are so many things happening with his business, yet he agrees to the deal because he can’t be away from her and can’t bare the thought of her being with someone else. Christian knows that he has the potential to taint Stella’s pureness but physically can’t stay away.

Stella is a character that I related with as she has some strong introverted characteristics, yet she puts her life on social media and has a job that makes her socialize and interacts with others. She looks for the best in everyone and lives in an air of positivity. She sees the bits of caring and humanity in Christian that he has buried, and instead of trying to change Christian, she embraces his darker tendencies along with those small moments with her where he lets his guard down slightly.

As they spend more time together, a part of Stella’s past makes an appearance as her stalker has resurfaced after a long break in silence causing Christian to up his protectiveness for Stella to new levels. As this change happens the lines blur in their relationship to the point where they decide to make things real.

Are their feelings for one another strong enough to withstand the forces that are threatening to tear them apart or was their relationship only built on a dream?

It’s hard to put into words the reasons why I love this book so much. It was a super quick read filled with banter between Stella and Christian, it had all of the emotions from swooning, laughter, and plenty of tears that made me have to put the book down a couple of times. There were plenty of tension and spicy scene between the two, and there were actually a good many times were past characters made appearances.

Even though this story was completely about Stella and Christian, it just felt full circle as the series ended especially with the epilogue.

I can objectively say Lauren Asher has never written a bad book. Although I felt the start of T&Cs was a little slow the pace started to pick up after Declan & Iris’ honeymoon . Honestly at first I didn’t see how the two would be compatible with each other romantically and at times I wondered why Cal and Iris hadn’t been paired up together lool but as the story progressed seeing Declan coming out of his shell and confessing his feelings for Iris reshaped how I perceived him. Considering the abuse he had received from his father, being open about his feelings must have been difficult but it showed great character development. And the way this man grovelled was a bonus, thank you to Rowan for teaching him how 😂 Iris was an absolute gem and although I am not dyslexic I still felt like I could relate to her in many other ways. She was so funny and I loved her confidence👌🏽 if she were a real person we’d definitely bond over our love for plants 🥰 From the start Declan and Iris came across as equals and that balance of power in their working and romantic relationship was just so beautiful to see 🥺 Loved seeing appearances from Zahra and Rowan and the references to F1/The Dirty Air series!

Also I need to take a moment to show appreciation for Cal, he is already my favourite out of the three brothers and Lauren Asher is one of the few authors who is capable of making me fall in love with a blonde man. Cannot wait for his and Alana’s book!
