Product Description

People often say there's nothing new under the sun, and yet Terra Chips are both old-fashioned and uniquely new. Old-fashioned in the sense that people have cherished these root vegetables since before civilization began. New in that two chefs from New York City, Dana Sinkler and Alexander Dzieduszycki, have gathered this delicious variety of vegetables together and prepared them into a light, naturally colorful collection of chips. Many of these vegetables are savory, some are sweet and mixed together they achieve a satisfying balance of flavors - complex, nutty, rich, delicate.

Terra Exotic Veggie Chips are delicious, more interesting than standard potato chips and there's a variety to the crispiness. In the other reviews, some users don't like this, but it's inherent in there being different types of food.

As a word of caution: These are a major heartburn trigger for some people. Personally, I have no problems with potato chips, fatty foods, chocolate, caffeine, pasta sauces or any of the other common trigger foods. But one serving of these and an hour later I'm miserable without some Pepto or Tums. Looking to internet forums, I found that these cause problems for others too. Like me, it took others a while to connect these with the problem, as they have a healthy image. At the end of the day though, they are still fried chips.

Try a single bag before committing to a bulk purchase.

These are indeed some of the best chips I've ever had, but there's a caveat. One of the types of chip in the bag is much harder than the rest, sometimes almost painfully hard if your teeth or gums catch it just right. It's the light, semi-translucent chip, the yuca I think. Anyway, this would be a 5-star product without a doubt if that chip was removed or replaced. The others though are worlds above any name-brand chips or potato chips out there. Another good thing is what it lacks; no artificial preservatives, no cholesterol, very little sodium and very little carbohydrates. They are certainly a welcome break from all the garbage sitting on store shelves, in taste and in health.

I love these chips a whole lot! This is also a great deal for them on subscribe and save when I compared it to the normal price I pay per bag in the store. The chips are yummy and taste natural. Some are very crunchy and a little hard to bite so I would not recommend these for elderly individuals or people who need or prefer softer food. My only issue with these chips is that they seem a little salty. Most people I let try them kept commenting on the sodium level as well. I kinda love salt, and don't plan on giving it up too much right now, so they are great to me! The sodium is just a warning for those who are watching their intake to do their research.

Purchased as a sample at a bodega on Third Avenue in New York City.

Interesting mix of vegetables: parsnips, taro, sweet potato, yuca and batata -- in this mix, a Cuban sweet potato.

I liked the taste primarily because of the fat and the sea salt but couldn't tell the difference in taste between the various types -- and the fhe fact that some were dipped in beet juice didn't make it any easier. And, I really liked the mouth feel, varying from crunchy to very very crunchy.

Fat, well there is quite a bit -- 13 grams or 20% of your daily requirement in only 220 calories -- and a pack only delivers 3 grams of fiber.

So, I plan to make my own version using a drier like the highly rated Presto 06300 Dehydro Electric Food Dehydrator.

Much less fat and salt, plenty of crunch, and much more fiber for the caloric loads.

So for a special treat, I've ordered a case from Amazon, but plan to concentrate on drying my own. I'll update in a month or two and let you know how it is working out.

These are a great and healthy snack to have around and they taste great! But the excessive salt is an issue. I brush a lot of it off. If I ran the zoo Terra would offer a low salt version. That would be 5 stars. They are also very expensive which is why I order them in bulk.

Having to become gluten free I was thinking vegetables the rest of my life, did a little research and no, not true. These are fantastic. I don't normally eat chips but these are more than good. Bought a case of them from Amazon. They'll be served at family gatherings as well as just home alone. These are truly Exotic Vegetable Chips. Thank you for making them.

I haven't bought these from Amazon only because Walmart prices them better, at $2.98/bag. Hard to find consistently though, so I looked here. Mixed root chips have varied, tougher textures than other chips. Firm/hard enough to use in 'sturdy' home made dips. I have 'invented' a dry/shake flavoring using Nutritional Yeast, Coconut Palm sugar (a little splenda too), smoked paprika and red pepper. By switching the smoked paprika for, example, adobo... or for onion powder.. you can change the 'mood' without having to shop for a lot of different flavors. AND you know what ingredients you have put on your chips!

I've been a fan of these chips for years. They have a unique combination of sweet potatoes, beets, yucca , taro, parsnips and batata which provide a different combination of crunch compared to plain old potato chips. I notice the bags are now advertising that there is a full serving of vegetables in every ounce (I never noticed this claim before) but I wouldn't consider them that much healthier than other types of potato chips.

What the unique combination of root vegetables do provide is a variation of color, crunch and flavor. I'm not a fan of the hard red beets, after biting into one I've actually chipped a tooth but I do enjoy the rest.

Mediterranean is my favorite, the flavor is outstanding as it's tangy, salty and slightly sweet.

The Terra chips maybe junk food but they are up scale junk food with the variation of colors and "exotic" root vegetables and would fit in as perfectly as an appetizer at a social event as they do just straight out of the bag.
