Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Customers like the look and gift value of the drink coaster. They mention it looks cool and is a perfect geek gift. However, some customers have reported that it tends to stick on the bottom of cool or cold cups and often falls on the floor.

"Almost perfect. It does tend to stick on the bottom of cool/cold cups. I have received several compliments on them and love the design." Read more
"...These coasters are a decent decoration to have on your desk or end table, but for actual use for their defined purpose, they are useless...." Read more
Customers dislike the stickiness of the product. They mention it tends to stick on the bottom of cool or cold cups, never stays put, and often falls on the floor. Some say the edge plastic isn't attached and sometimes comes off.

The coasters were a hit for my dad, who has worked with computers day in and day out for the last 20+ years. The coasters are 'cute' -- I hesitate to use that word because they aren't just for show and they are still manly or geeky or whatever word you want to use to make these coasters fit with the person you are giving them to (or using for yourself!). They are pretty durable as far as I can tell -- my dad dropped one twice trying to set it on the table and there was zero damage to it, and they hold any dripping condensation from the drink as well. I wouldn't pick the coaster up and turn it over though -- the water sits on top of the coaster so if you turned it over the water would get all over your table.... but they do not leak themselves.
These coasters are a great conversation piece and they are very unique and interesting to look at. They ship quickly and come in a great little box. Plus they are all different, which is pretty cool too.
As recycled products, they are all different. Of the six, I judge 5 of them to be "really cool", and the last one still looks good, it just has fewer footprints (metal areas where the chip goes) on it. I'm an engineer, so of course I would like them, but even my brother (not a geek) thought they were awesome and wanted one at his desk!
Also: E-waste is a growing problem in the world. Large quantities of it are shipped from the first-world to third-world dumps, where poor adults and children sift through the electronic waste looking for salvageable materials - and get lead poisoning and other horrible conditions. Products like this are an innovative way to deal with this problem, because without a product to sell, it can be difficult to sustain a profitable business in a labor-intensive task like recycling e-Waste.
Whether or not you care about the second point, they are super cool and effectively block the condensation.
Very nice for the techy person. Other people have said that the coasters tend to stick to the bottom of cups but I haven't personally had this problem. Another thing I noticed in other reviews are that some people have gotten bad/bland designs, there will be some you don't like, they are recycled circuit boards so they will all be random and some better than others.
I work in IT and have been a tech-head all my life. I also care about how technology doesn't really help the environment. Tech waste is a problem so finding ways like this to reuse it is great. I did however give it a 3. These are just PCBoards cut in circles with thin clear plastic sheets on either side lightly glued. Then a rubber ring is goes around the edge. There is no felt underneath so the rubber ring does not allow relocating coaster without picking up drink and then picking up coaster (does not slide) and then placing coaster followed by drink. Man there is so much room for improvement on such a simple item.
1. Coat these guys with a sealant instead of the thin plastic sheets lightly glued. These will need to be washed at some point and doing so can break the seal of glue holding the sheet to the board.
2. A brass or silver type metal looking ringe permanently fixed around the coaster would look great and replace the terrible rubber ring.
3. Put felt or some soft non-abrasive material underneath so they don't stick to the surface or scratch it. (not saying these scratch tabletops)
Please don't take this as a bad review. This is a review of a great idea that I hope can be made better. Thanks for being apart of the solution!
Every coder needs one or two of these on their desk to hold their caffeine source. This was my second set of circuit board coasters, and this set has some differences compared with the other set. On the plus, this set has holes through each of the coaters, adding a little bit of visual interest compared to my other set. On the minus, because of those interesting holes, which would allow moisture to reach your desk, thereby negating their primary function, there is a thin plastic sheet on the top and bottom, and the edging is more of an opaque white rubbery gasket than a hard clear plastic. The first time I cleaned a smudge off one of these, the plastic sheeting crumpled and popped out of the edge of the gasket. It was no problem to pop it back into place, but I fear eventually I'll crease the plastic or wear out the edging like a rubber band. It also seems loose enough that water could easily seep under the rubbery edging and travel down to your desk anyway, so a better solution to the holes might have been to fill them in with clear epoxy.
Overall my objections are really minor, so this product still earns 4 stars from me. Makes a pretty fail-proof gift for the computer nerd in your life.
