I popped it in, and it worked right off the bat. It lasted forever on a charge, it was brilliant light. Possibly brighter than my nephews stinger LED DS and much more reliable as his DS model always had problems with the switches.
Until it died. This took about a month, one day it just wouldnt turn on, I disassembled all the parts I could of the light, I checked voltages, cleaned contacts, ETC. Near as I can tell, the bulb just took a dump. I never dropped it or anything.
Not to be dismayed I wrote the warranty email at terralux. I explained my situation. I got no response.
Perhaps I will try again soon to obtain a replacement. I was going to just buy another kit today, but the price seems to have increased significantly since I bought mine a couple years ago.
I LOVED my stinger, I LOVED the terraLux adapter. Until it died. Now my stinger sits uselessly on a table. The batteries may be shot from deep discharge by now. but even if they have a hint of working the life would be fantastic if only the conversion kit worked still.
I hope terraLUX can redeem itself. It was the best flashlight I had owned until the kit went dead.
I forgot to change this, I re wrote the email to terraLUX and they sent me a replacement and apologized for the inconvenience, despite the fact that the day I wrote the email was out of warranty. The kit only has a 1 year warranty I thought it was lifetime, but that is only their flashlights.
the new kit seems more robust and has been working fine since I got the part over a year ago.
When I took the upgrade to work, my fellow officers and I compared the up-grade to current models and the brightness is consistent with many of the models on the market now. The only down side, you can't get the strobe feature with the up-grade. No big deal, I have yet to see the application of a strobe actually be used on the street.
I would definitely recommend this product to someone who has not yet made the transition to LED for police work. Since the stinger upgrade has worked so well, I will be ordering the upgrades for the two SL20's I have. Hope this helps.

Update: It has been several months since I installed the Terralux kit to my Gen 1 Stinger. So far, the light has operated flawlessly. I have to make myself carry my department issued Streamlight for officer safety reasons but the light does not compair to my little stinger. So far I have only had to charge the stinger 3 times, the battery lasts that much longer. The Terralux has survived banging on doors in the middle of the night, one passenger window break and several drops to the concrete. If you have an old stinger or SL model and want LED, this is defenitely the way to go. So far, four fellow officers have purchased the convertion kits for their old lights.
On a funny note, A local police supply company brought by the new Streamlight SL-20L. Very impressive 300 lumen version of what we all know ($130.00) however, he did not want to talk about the Terralux conversion kits.
Power consumption is way down also. I only have to charge it about every two weeks now instead of every other day.
