This is really good. I'm doing a Whole30 (day 8!) and trying to keep things from getting boring (and I really like ketchup on my burgers and chicken tenders). I tried their BBQ sauce first and it's ok (tastes and feels more like steak sauce (think Heinz 57) than BBQ), so I didn't have super high expectations for this. However, I actually really like it. It's kind of like the switch from Heinz Ketchup (which is all you ever get when you grow up in Pittsburgh) to organic Ketchup. It takes some getting used to, but eventually you like it better. I think, were it not for the super high price of this (with shipping or without), I would probably make the permanent switch. Being that we buy ketchup with 2g of sugar, I don't think it's really necessary (with this, you're really just replacing cane sugar with dates, which is great for sticking to the Whole30 rules, but not really worth the extreme price all the time).
Consistency: This is really thick. Like, you have to hit the side of the bottle to get it out thick! I really wish they'd make a BBQ sauce that's this thick.
Taste: It has a nice, complex, robust taste. It's ketchup-ish (if you're used to organic ketchup already, if you're still using Heinz, I think you might hate this stuff), but it's a bit more vinegary. It's like if ketchup met an extremely mild, non-smokey BBQ.
Conclusion: This is GREAT if you're doing a Whole30, otherwise, I just don't see it being worth the price. Trader Joe's and Cucina Antica both make a great organic ketchup with 2gs of sugar and are both under $4.
Horrible. Save yourself the $14 and go buy a can of tomato sauce at he grocery store. It tastes exactly the same. Meaning, it's just not worth having. Also, my bottle arrived leaking from around wax seal and was hot. Despite the bottle saying 'keep refrdigerated' Amazon does not allow returns or refunds on this item either.
This definitely is a good replacement for ketchup while on the Whole 30...but doesn't really taste a whole lot like ketchup. In any case, it was nice to use to dip my sweet potato fries in or to top off a hamburger patty. Would definitely consider buying again for my next Whole 30
