The D-Day Plan for Christian victory in the hearts and minds of their kids.
Tested: A New Strategy for Keeping Kids in the Faith is a fire alarm to the Church! This book both exposes the clear and present danger of how the American culture is kidnapping our kid's faith, but it is also an alarm to action in building them into culture warriors! A must read for pastors, parents, and teachers. This book is a challenge to action! As a pastor and father of seven, I loved every page!

Whether you are a lead pastor, a student pastor, a student volunteer, or the parent of a teenager you need this book! As a parent of grown children, I can honestly say that I would have been a much better Christian parent if this material was in my hands 10 or 12 years ago. I highly recommend this material for you to use as a curriculum in your Church's student ministry or in your own home. Don't lose your kids to the dark world once they graduate from high school.

This is such an impactful book to address the strategy of keeping Christian kids in the faith after graduation. The author presents sobering truths about what the church (and our homes) are lacking in preparing effective, impactful Christian kids ready to face a secular culture once they are out on their own. But he doesn't just leave us to ponder these truths without firm, effective advice on the ways we can implement easy changes in our Sunday morning structure that will make the most impact during the time we have with our youth. This book gave me the "shot in the arm" I needed to be more intentional with the time I have left with my own children while also realizing what a huge responsibility I have to the youth of our church. I must do my part to help them know the "what" and the "how" of what they really believe and how that effects the way they live by using the measurable guidelines Mr. Barber lays out in the book. This book is a "must read" for any parent and every youth worker. Well done!

Brace writes about a most important issue of follower and leader development; i.e., knowing what one believes and, more importantly, why. He analyzes the causes of uncertainty and ineffective preparation of teenagers for the assaults of peers and superiors on their fundamental beliefs and answers to their questions of origin, meaning, morality, and destiny. His recommendations are practical and proficient. I enjoyed reading Tested and recommend it to any leader of teenagers (and, even, adolescents).

Good little apologia for apologetics in children and youth ministry. If you are unconcerned that 75% of churches kids leave the faith and the Church after high school, don't read this book.
If you think your child could never be one of the 75%, don't read this book.
If you are honest and know that the odds are not in your favor that your child will come to a genuine love- faith relationship with Jesus - read this book.

Tested is encouraging because Barber offers a clear "how" for spiritual growth and the anchoring of one's faith. The text is littered with statistics and analysis that paint the troubling picture concerning the next generation's lack of personal faith. But, Barber doesn't leave us hanging; with an evidentialist apologetic and an examination protocol that will show people what they know, he gives us a way forward in discipling the next generations. Tested should be a perennial reality for the church and beyond, and it is likely just the tip of this iceberg.

As a dad I've wrestled as to whether or not we are actually preparing our kids to live life once they leave my house and Brace confirmed what I have long thought. We are entertaining our children at church instead of teaching them the foundations of our faith and why they can logically build a case for believing the Bible. I'm answering Brace's challenge and moving to stretch my children and equipping them with the knowledge they need to make their own decisions based on facts and historical evidence instead of popular opinions and political beliefs.

Excellent read for youth parents. Brace does a great job of creating urgency around our challenge of parenting our kids to remain in their faith without making the strategy seem impossible to execute. Great use of analogies throughout. Much of what we read today is indicative of the challenges we face and too light on the mechanics of how we address those challenges. Brace struck a great balance here.

As a concerned parent of adolescent children I see a growing skepticism in Christianity. Brace’s logical approach towards apologetics coupled with key methodologies and content will help equip any parent partner with the Lord to develop children who have a stronger faith and are ready to impact the world. Brace challenges parents and churches to really reflect on how we’ve been raising our youth in the church. He clearly explains the problem and efficiently delivers the solution. This book is easy to understand, and even easier to implement. I recommend “Tested” to any parent or church leader looking to raise up strong and confident believers. Thanks Brace!
