Just when I think Emma Hart can’t get any better than she already is, she sneaks right in there and gives us, what I think is the best book of the Holly Woods series.

I love how Emma has brought back all our "regulars" from the previous two books, which includes her brothers, parents and the irrepressible Nonna and her new parrot Gio who just adds that extra touch of crazy to this already over the top family... Oh Nonna, how I love you, let me count the ways!

In this book, we've got yet another potential crime, but it involves a young girl this time. While Drake is reluctant to let Noelle get involved, as usual he has no problem letting her provide him with certain facts, but he doesn't want her getting too involved with the investigation... yeah like that's going to happen. We all know that Noelle isn't going to sit back and wait for the "crime" to be solved. As we move further into the book, it appears that there may be more than one victim and trying to put together the pieces of the crime scenes to find commonalities was outstandingly written by Emma. Not once did I have ANY inkling as to how this book was going to end and who was involved. This alone makes the book a 10 in my eyes!!!

What I loved more than anything was when Noelle pushed some of Drakes buttons by potentially putting herself in dangerous situations and Drake became all protective over her showing her how much he really does care about her and anyone that gets in his way or prevents him from that protection...well, I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of Drake's wrath!

"Nothing matters more to me than protecting you, Bella."

Alrighty then... how can you NOT fall in love with Drake Nash when he says stuff like this?

5 stars!

I don't know how she does it, but Emma Hart has made each book in this series better and better. Tethered Bond was laugh out loud funny. With Noelle and Drake's continuous arguing, Mom and Nonna's constant bickering over store bought or fresh pasta, and, now, Gio, there were times that I had tears in my eyes.
Noelle is the best at what she does. Everyone knows it. Which is why she keeps getting put on cases to help the Holly Woods Police Dept. She's starting to rethink that decision though. While she and Drake make a great couple, they don't exactly get along when it comes to work.
As much as Drake loves his work, he finds it difficult to work with his hardheaded girlfriend and protect her at the same time, especially when she won't listen to him. All he can do is try to argue with her until she gives in (which is rare) or bribe her with cupcakes. Unfortunately, he's had to resort to the latter quite a few times.
I always find myself reading entirely too fast. I tell myself to read at my normal pace, which is usually pretty slow, but when it comes to this series, I. Just. Can't. Do it. I'm sure I've said it once and I'll say it again - This is my favorite series of the year. You put me on a deserted island and I only get to choose one book, I'm choosing this entire series. You'll take me kicking and screaming without them. With it, Emma Hart has become one of my "stop what you're doing and read their new book" authors. She shows that she can give us an enthralling story, full of drama and laughter, sarcastic characters who will argue til the death, and a family that loves each other as hard as they hate. Even though I'm not constantly thinking about this story, it's always lingering in the background with the countdown until the next book in the series. It's just that good. You're left feeling content until the next adventure begins.

It's no secret how much I love Emma Hart, she's just a fantastic writer, and this particular series is I think my favorite of hers. Part of what I love about this series is that they really build on each other, I think you could probably get away with reading them as stand-alones, but you would be missing out on so much awesomeness. I love how much each one of these books makes me laugh as well as has me so emotionally invested in the characters that I am sad when they are sad, and scared when they are scared.

So we pick up on this book pretty much where we left off in the previous one, Drake's ex is back in town, and forcing her way in as much as she can to Drake's life, and of course there is always some kind of murder mystery element going on. It's time for the summer fayre, which I suppose is one of Holly Woods biggest attractions, and of course something is amiss just in time for the event.

I do have to say, that the mystery in this book, or rather the killings in this book are a bit more dark then before, this goes into serial killer territory. You can tell that this case is really taking a toll on the people who are involved in it, especially with everyone's favorite heroine, Noelle. And like always, I do love Noelle. She still has that spark about her, she has this great sassy attitude that just always makes me smile. I really love how she holds her own, how she always goes for what she wants.

Everyone's favorite grandmother is back and she is full form, I mean Nonna makes everything hilarious.
