I'm not a full-on fish enthusiast... well, at least not anymore. I've had this same fishtank for about 15 years, and recently switched from goldfish to tropical fish. But I'm not into breeding or anything like that... I just like having a fishtank around, and I'll buy whatever's on sale.

The granules for this food may be difficult for smaller fish to eat. I currently have three black mollies, a betta, a guppy, and a red swordtail (still rebuilding the population after switching from goldfish). I know it's not the most recommended combination, but they all seem to get along in the 20 gallon tank. The guppy and the smaller mollies need to work hard to eat the pellets, but they've managed. I would imagine that neon tetra and silverclouds might have a much harder time. But other than that, this food seems to keep the tank clearer because it's really pellets. And they cover all levels of the tank; some granules float, some sink to the bottom, and some sorta drift half-way so if you have middle and bottom feeders like micro cory's they can also partake.

My fish eat this food just as quickly as flake food and this granulated food works much better in my automatic feeder but it turns the tank water a dark yellow color (like the color of dark apple juice).
I have a new filter and have replaced the filter cartridges and some of the tank water and the dark color returns in a few days.
Update: all 10 of my Tetras died within a month of using this food.

Maybe I got a bad batch, but these granules are too big for small community fish. I have a tank with neon tetras, blood fin tetras, & tiger barbs. The blood fins & barbs can eat the granules, but they are mostly too big for the neons. The neons end up repeatedly biting & then spitting them out until they are small enough to swallow. It takes them time to accomplish that, so the neons end up getting a couple morsels while the other fish are eating the bulk of the food. It makes a balanced feeding impossible.

My guppies love this food. It does leave the water clearer but it is not slow sinking. About a third of what I put into the tank sinks slowly or gets eaten off the top and the rest floats to the bottom rather quickly which leaves the bottom of the tank to get dirtier sooner from the small pieces that get stuck down in the gravel. My fish seem to like to eat this more than regular flake food.

We have a modest 20 gallon tank with some neons and fancy guppies. They really like these granules and seem to do well with them. They're not too big for their mouths and even baby guppies have done well on the food when crushed. I've even seen my red cherry shrimp come out of the plants just to grab some! Great price, beats the big box stores if you can find it. In my area unfortunately I can't, but what's better than having it come to my door?

I have 9 fish at the moment and my Harlequin Rasboras love these. The other fish don't usually go for these crisps but the Rasboras could eat them all day. I wouldn't get this if you have small tropical fish because there are some crisps that are too big for them.

I use this for my Beta fish and he loves them. I know sometimes they can be picky with their food but he has not spit any of these back out. They're really tiny so it's easy for him to eat as opposed to the pellets I used to buy. Some of these float and some of these sink which is great if you have any bottom feeders in your tank. My Beta will even chase the ones that start sinking to eat them.

I work long hours and don't always have time to feed my fish on a regular schedule. I had tried flake food in an automatic feeder which was a total disaster. The flakes absorb the moisture in the air, cake up, and clog the feeder. I expressed my frustration at the fish store, and they recommended these granules. They work perfectly in the automatic feeder. I don't even have to worry about my fish when away on vacation. I make sure the feeder is full before I leave - no more expensive weekend feeder pellets. My neon tetras, mollies, platys, and tiger barbs love this stuff and they devour it. I believe the reviewer who stated it turned their water red overfed his/her fish. This food does not even make it to the bottom of my tank without being devoured by all the fish. I have been using this stuff for a couple of years without a problem. I have a second automatic feeder with pellets for my bottom feeders along with dehydrated bloodworms as a treat for the other fish.
This food is not for feeding fry. You will need finely ground flake food or commercially available food designed specifically for fry.
