Product description

Tetrax easily attaches to the air vent, it does not obstruct your range of view when driving and it's within your fingertips. Some states are forbidding from mounting any objects, as suction pads for GPS, on the windshield. The complete difference for Tetrax from suction pads may also help to avoid burglary, which can easily recognize the typical signs of the suction pad, suggesting the presence of a GPS inside a vehicle. Holds my Galaxy Note II - but it can rotate easily.

It is a good design. I believe the dimple in the magnet combined with the curved metal part that sticks on your phone keep heavier phones (like my Galaxy Note II) from falling off even on bumpy roads.
For some reason when i saw this, i thought the 4 little individual magnets would keep the phone oriented vertically/horizontally. That is not the case, and in fact if you don't have the metal dot on the back in the center of your phone's weight, it will rotate. If you know the orientation you want to use (landscape or portrait) you can use this to their advantage, by setting it a bit high on the center towards the top so it won't rotate too much. Also you could mount it such that your phone will rest an edge somewhere so it doesn't rotate.

They supplied several metal backing points so you can attach more than one phone, or if you get the centering wrong or buy another case you don't have to buy another tetrax.

Today I installed my black tetrax fix. After some modifications it works extremely well using the medium sized button on my *huge* 7.1oz (with case) samsung galaxy note GT-N7000. I drove about an hour today with 3 total mounts and dismounts of my phone with it affixed with the tetrax and im pleased to say that the phone stayed firmly in place. So why only 4 stars?

Cons:

* The 3M adhesive on the phone side "button" does NOT stick well enough to a TPU (soft plastic) case, at least not to my Diztronic Matte Back Smoke Flexible TPU Case for Samsung Galaxy Note (GT-N7000) & AT&T Galaxy Note LTE (SGH-I717) [Diztronic Retail Packaging ]. I remedied this by using some super glue on the button and affixing it that way onto the diztronic tpu case. Problem completely solved.
* Due to a metal button being on the rear of my case, the phone now no longer lies flat when placed on hard surfaces like a table. I kind of knew this prior to buying, though.
* The 3M adhesive stuck to my plastic dash very well. However, I believe over time it may fall off, as I live in Texas and the inside of a car can get to 150F during summer (and its summer now!). Easy solution: superglue it to the dash. I'm hoping however, I won't have to do that.

Pros:

* The magnet is both extremely powerful and extremely small. So small that The Fix on the dash is almost unnoticeable. And so powerful that when just putting the button to the magnet, it cannot be pried off with a fingernail. It has to be slid off.
* Extremely quick and one handed mounting and dismounting. Most of the car mounting solutions require two hands or contorting the phone to remove it from the car mount. How are you supposed to use two hands if you receive a call while driving? Unsafe!
* Looks great when mounted. Try saying that about a bulky suction cup solution that rattles while driving! No rattle here.

Overall i really recommend this device. I wish however that they had better default sticking power and that the buttons were flat so my phone would lie flat on hard surfaces when not in the car. I'm not sure the latter is possible while getting adequate magnetism. But here's to wishing! If in time The Fix falls off my dash due to the heat I will update this review and post as to whether superglue also fixed the issue.

It functions as expected, but I wish the magnetic strength was a little stronger. Granted, my phone (HTC Evo 4G LTE) is pretty heavy, so I am mainly glad that the magnet is strong enough to hold my phone. I tried using it in landscape mode, but I must have slightly off-centered the phone mount on the back of my phone as it refuses to stay in that orientation.

Overall, I love the simplicity and good looks of this product. It doesn't stand out on my phone or in the car, unlike most of those ugly dashboard mounts.

UPDATE:
I've been using the product for about a month, and love it so much that I am getting a second one for my wife's car! She thinks it is a great idea whenever she rides with me in my car, so now she wants one in hers.

Great cell phone holder for car.

Have had this for a little over 1 month. First, it looks great on my dashboard. Used the self adhesive back that came with the Tetrax. One small 5mm metal button that fits on the back of the cell phone case, and the larger 15mm button magnet attaches to the dash.
I have to use 2 cords for my phones, a USB power cord, and the 3.5mm audio cord. The Tetrax holds the phone over the worst bumps or sharpest curves. The phone may sway +/- 15 degress on sharp curves, but even changing the volume or turning screen on or off the phone sticks. These are not small phones either, this is with a Galaxy Nexus and Moto X. A GREAT cell phone holder.

If you're looking at any other car mounts, stop and buy the Tetrax. It's so small but holds up perfectly. There's no doubt or fear that it will fall at all. It comes with sticky pieces to attach to your phone or case and they even have an iPhone case with the metal piece built in if you want to buy it separately. The biggest thing for me was that I didn't want a huge mount on my car. This actually looks cool without your phone on it too and I get questions about it all time. My dad liked it so much that he asked me to order one for him too!

I bought two of these to mount an iPod touch to the dash of my Mercedes C63 AMG. I would recommend going with two vs one as it will keep it from moving if you drive harder than average. Plus they look great when not in use rather than having a huge suction cup. I have two of them I mounted on my dash and put two of the mounting ends on the back of an ipod touch and it never moves at all. Highly recommended.

Only con is that the piece that you have to stick on your phone doesn't always stay on the covers. I use one of these for a landscape mounted Galaxy S3 in the car. The adhesive on the pads is pretty good if you press and let it cure for a full minute. I got better results using the wide base metal piece that attaches to the phone case.

Ordered two more to use in a triangle pattern and should be strong enough to withstand rally racing.

No problems with the stickiness for me. Adhered to my dash and won't budge. I even tried to remove it. As it states in the instructions, Make sure your dash is clean and smooth. I cleaned mine with the provided alcohol wipe. If there is any residue from dash cleaners used in the past it will definitely not work, And the stickiness will be ruined instantly.
The design of the product leaves a small footprint on your dash, but means that you have an ugly pimple on the back of your phone. This also means that it will never sit flat on a table again.
Also the quality isn't quite there. The gold magnet bit is fine, but the part that attaches to your phone just looks cheap, mine is all off centre with a poor finish.
Overall the product works well, and if you don't want a bigger mount on your dash all the time this is probably your only choice. but there are other options for less money. I'm going to invest in one that allows my phone to sit flat on a table and looks a little less obvious on my phone.

I'm not one for overly harsh reviews but this magnet just fell off my dash board and now the sticky adhesive side doesn't stick any more! I followed instructions and cleaned both surfaces with an alcohol wipe which is provided and let them dry. There was no fully appropriate place on my dash to put this and I checked a few of my friends cars and neither did they. If you haven't got a large perfectly flat area on your dash with with any so of grain or texture I wouldn't buy this product! My friend informs me that the air duct attachment that is available is brilliant though, it's just 15 quid more! I have no problems with the case though I think that this on its own is good value
