From this work alone, it becomes obvious that Kveldulf has a command of his subject. This happens to be the first book that I recall being released to the non-academic audience on heathen religion. It is a short read, but is a thorough introductory work. If you are looking for information on runes, galdr, and seidr, you won't find it here, but will find it in a companion work titled "Teutonic Magic".
This work covers the history, gods, cosmology, and various religious concepts of the Germanic people's, such as wyrd and orlog. From what I recall, this was Kveldulf's first book. As such, over the years he has deepened and expanded his knowledge and has thus produced more extensive and updated works. Among these include a two volume set titled "Our Troth" and Elves Wights and Trolls. Kveldulf is an assumed name. You will find additional works by this author under his birth name "Stephan Grundy".
Being that this work was released in 1993, it is dated. However, most of the information is still accurate. Additionally, while I usually strongly advise individuals to steer clear of books released by Llewellyn Publications, this is an exception. Unlike most works released by Llewellyn, this work is academically sound.
Happy Reading.
