The toe box is wide, as some others have mentioned, which hasn't been a problem, but is not, perhaps, as supportive for walking on side slopes as my Clark's Outfit boots. They have the same comfortable sole with rounded heel that Clarks calls WaveWalk, which I find very comfortable to walk in.
It is a very soft boot, more like wearing a padded glove.
I frequently walk in wet grass and the leather gets wet but so far my feet have stayed dry. Time to put on some silicone waterproofing to try to keep the leather dry though.
I appreciate that the rubber toe guard is sewn down instead of just glued, as that is often what fails first in boots.
All in all, a nice, comfortable boot.
Since these are rough leather and I wear them in the wet grass nearly every day, I couldn't keep the leather dry, even with silicone, and eventually with mink oil; so I bought the Kimtah, which are similar but a bit more heavily built, and are smooth leather which is easier to protect against repeated wetting. My Gannett's are now my town boots. I love them both.
My concern: the suede portion of the outer boot cuts easily. I walk in rocky, desert terrain and something cut the boot on my first time out. The 1/4" cut on the first day turned into a 1" cut on the second day I wore the boots. I've had to repair them with rubber cement so they wouldn't gather debris in between the outer layers. It's so hard for me to find narrow boots at a reasonable price, so I'll keep them for the year or so it takes me to wear out boots.
