Now, for a review on the SCORE of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre:
I love film scores. Most of you probably don't. But I am a huge fan of Music Made For Movies. I actually bought this CD because it is as scary as heck, and great for the Halloween season, and let me tell you, it is PERFECT for halloween, it's deep bass gets you scared all by itself! (even with the lights on).
I absolutly LOVED the movie, it was fantastic, but, to be honest, what really made this movie so dern scary was the music. You can probably be just as scared listening to this soundtrack as you would be watching the movie, it's THAT good! I highly suggest picking up this soundtrack even if you can't stand film scores, and use it for halloween, or just to scare the heck out of you whenever you want.
Relatively little-known Steve Jablonsky has done an AWESOME job with the score for the remake of the 1974 horror classic, 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre'. The score creeped me out so bad I got chills down my spine just from listening to it. It always seemed to hint that something unpleasant was going to happen soon - whether that meant Kemper getting whacked by Leatherface's sledgehammer, Erin's wild run through the woods at night with Leatherface & his chainsaw close behind, or Andy's panic-stricken run through the backyard of the Hewitt house, steps ahead of the loudly-buzzing chainsaw. Jablonsky created a central theme - probably Leatherface's - using low brass, bassoon, and French horn to give the movie the sinister, creepy tone that runs through the movie. It's heard several times in the movie, which was why I bought the score. DO NOT MISS IT!
That aside, the CD which is supposed to be being reviewed is great. I have listened to the whole CD through and I was a little disappointed that there was not more creativity in the music, but that didn't stop it from being scary.
The moods in the music are eerie and the chase songs make the scenes pop back into my head. Very scary CD if you are looking for some scary music to blast on Halloween or you want to scare yourself crazy, put this CD on alone in the dark. Good buy, well worth it but not as creative as I wanted it to be, thats probably just high expectations though.
it is not the chemical brothers. thats a completely different song. its not This Mortal Coil. their version is much more gospel sounding. and Tim Buckly did not sing this version. and there are several several other cover versions. but the one for this film is by Moneypenny.
so stop trying to find it. cause its not anywhere on the net. and its not on any album.
so hope this helps. bad news i know. but maybe one day it will be released on a format.
