Cassidy has more to deal with than Mason’s questionable intentions. She has no idea why her mother kept her away from the Calhouns all her life, even though it meant living in near poverty for both of them. She doesn’t know who to trust, either—can her siblings be as welcoming as they seem? And what about the people at Calhoun Petroleum? And then the real danger starts.
The Calhoun Petroleum story continues May 2 with the release of Texas Fire. I’ll be watching for it.
Along with inheriting a share of his estate, she also inherits three half-siblings she never knew existed. On top of that, there's a catch. For the four children to inherit, they must take a position in the company and handle the job efficiently for the next year. The will also stipulated someone to oversee that all four of them fulfilled those jobs successfully. As it turns out the hall monitor is the sexiest man Cass has ever met.
Mason MacKenzie is the upcoming heir of his own smaller family owned oil company, a major competitor of Calhoun Oil, and a company with its own problems due to the drop in oil prices and the bad management decisions of his uncle. Cass’s father trusted Mason to be a fair and honorable administrator to the terms of Connie’s will. But the immediate attraction between Mason and Connie’s newfound daughter are enough to tempt even him to take advantage of the situation.
When secrets from the past threaten more than just the status quo of the company, Cass and Mason have more to worry about than just their mutual heat. This is a smart and fun story of the oil business in Texas and the people who make it happen. I loved it!
What if you grew up struggling to pay the rent and keep food on the table, only to learn you have a billionaire father? And then you discover he has always wanted to know you, but your mother refused to allow him any parental rights. She wouldn’t even let him help you pay for college and you are buried under student loan debt.
Then he dies and names you in his will. Suddenly you discover you have two sisters and a brother who have been raised with a silver spoon and every advantage. The four of you are in line to inherit more money than you can fathom. Of course, there are just a few provisions of the will that must be met first. And there is the very real possibility that his company may go bankrupt before anyone inherits anything.
To insure the provisions of his will are carried out, dear old dad put a watch dog in place. A family friend, who is sexier than sin! And also runs a rival company. Is it possible this man can fairly evaluate everyone’s performance when it is to his advantage that they fail? And what about the secret your own mother has been holding over your father’s head all these years? A secret so volatile it kept your father from claiming you and is a dire threat the company’s survival.
Not to mention the string of near miss accidents that are a threat to your own survival.
Can you forgive your mother? Can you learn to trust and love your new found siblings? And what about this man who is going to be evaluating your performance. Is he all he seems? Can he be trusted or will he sabotage your inheritance and break your heart?
Don’t miss this riveting story that will keep you up all night! The only negative is that we have to wait until May 2, 2017 for book two – Texas Fire (The Texas Heat Series)!
