Absolutely everything you could possibly want to know about homeowners associations and covenants in Texas collected on a few hundred pages of well-written prose. I have found the book exceedingly helpful in proving to a power-hungry neighbor that our covenants are no longer valid, as they have been violated repeatedly and not enforced for more than 20 years. The book also would be useful if you are tryimg tp set up a homeowners association or a condominium association (the rules are different). The price is high, but if you need it, you really need it.

My comments are from the residential HOA community perspective. The book also has the same depth of information for Condominium communities and I believe it would offer equally valuable information accordingly.
For Developers...you've created a master plan community and now you want to protect it for years to come. How you set up the governing documents and what you include or exclude will either help or hinder the future members in carrying out your ultimate vision. Do us a big favor and read this book!
For homeowners...so you're thinking about building or buying a home in a neighborhood with an HOA, what does that mean to you? Read this book!
and finally, you've volunteered for the board of directors because no one else in the neighborhood seems to have the time and how hard can it be? We are all neighbors, right? It can be easy, but before you just kick back and let things slide, read this book! This book, and future updates, will become a part of our Board of Directors resource records and new Board members will be encouraged to read it. We now have the documentation needed to explain why and how we do the things we are required BY LAW to do. When we have a situation involving homeowners, we now have a reference to check that will begin to help us know the law - without the hourly lawyer fee! Lawyer review and advice will still be needed from time to time, but this book will help us be educated and make those times much more productive. The book has all the references to laws and codes for those who wish to read it for themselves, but then for us non-lawyers, the helpful "in plain english..." which I really do appreciate. It is thorough and up-to-date and a must have for anyone involved with HOAs in Texas!

A group of homeowners in my community became very frustrated by what the HOA and its management company were doing. When we asked to review certain records of the HOA, we were given the run around and denied access. One of my neighbors bought this book. It had a whole chapter on homeowners' rights and specifically explains the steps to require the HOA to allow inspection of its records and specifies the actual laws that require the HOA to allow us to review their records. We sent the HOA a letter demanding to see the records and included a reference to the law specified in the book. We were immediately given access to the records. In addition, we also learned that the HOA has to give us certain notices before they can fine homeowners which they weren't doing. I have bought copies of this book for each of my children who live in a HOA so that they can protect themselves from their HOA.

I'm not a lawyer, but I needed some quick answers to HOA problem solving. I ordered Greg's book and found it to be very well laid out and easy to navigate. I found my answers within 15 minutes and emailed my lawyer the info she had been needing. This is a very handy book, I no longer feel at a loss when an HOA issue arises.

I have used the book for information on Home Owner Association law. It had a lot of information that I studied before I called an attorney. It will need revising as one new law started Sept.1 2011 and another revision coming Jan. 1 2012.

This is an excellent book that must be read by every HOA Board member elected or appointed. Very easy to follow and easy to comprehend what you might think is difficult. If you are a homeowner and believe your Board is not following their guidelines, this will make their responsibilities clear. If you are a Board member, you will have a very clear understanding of what your job requires.

As a newly elected MUD Director myself, this book has helped to clarify the extensive laws that govern our relationships with residents, contractors, vendors and many, many other inter-governmental entities. I have come to rely on this book and carry it everywhere I go. This reference is easy to read and navigate through as well as a real confidence booster in the board room.

For anyone that servers on a HOA/POA board or is a committee member in a Texas HOA/POA this book is a must read. As the president of my homeowner's association I highly recommend this book not only for directors and committee members but also for homeowners so they know their rights and responsibilities in a HOA/POA. Easy read.
