multiple lifetimes of adventure when he was stationed on the Mexican US border, dealing with insurgency in the Phillipines during WW I
and then gathering intelligence in Siberia.
He was a real life adventurer who then wrote thrilling adventure stories for the major Pulps before he founded one of the first comic book companies that invented original comic stories.
Then brought the world the first modern superhero, Superman.
His life story and his fiction have been mostly lost to history until now. This collection showcases his adventure stories and has a remembrance by his granddaughter bringing his life out of the shadows.
If you love pulp adventure fiction or the history of the comic book as a medium buy this book!
This is the work of a true original who deserves to be restored to his rightful place in popular culture.
What I didn't know was the Major's significant role in "pulp," which was so eloquently described by his granddaughter Nicky Wheeler-Nicholson in her in-depth introduction to the collection of stories. The Major is just as interesting as the stories he wrote! Do yourself a favor and pick up this treat. It will fill your adventurous soul.
