I am used to walking my cat. But last time we saw a big dog on the sidewalk (normal, doggos walk too) and my cat TOOK OFF TOWARDS THE DOG. She is too friendly for her own good. And while the dog was too shocked and friendly to be bothered because there was a tiny speedball running towards her, I realized I could not just walk her around my building like that anymore. So.... The bag is helpful. We go to the farmers market, she's comfy, the bottom allows her to make biscuits and be happy and I don't have to stress about the nearby doggos. I still walk her, where it's definitely safe.

Bought this for my black cat who is timid on walks (13lbs, and about 3ft nose to tail). Went on an extended walk (6miles) to test the comfort of the backpack for the both of us, and he actually fell asleep during the walk. It doesn’t bounce, or dig into my back once all the straps are adjusted properly.
I went with the all mesh backpack instead of the plastic bubble style for the airflow. Don’t want the fuzzies to overheat on a warm day.

I can't believe how much our Jack Russell loves this--He doesn't want to get out after he's been in! As he's gotten older, longer walks/ hikes are harder and he has been slowing down. I've been researching different carriers for him for over a year, and this is exactly what we needed. At 15-18 pounds, a sling bag would have put too much pressure on my shoulders (i'm 5', for reference) , and he's a weird size--technically a small dog, but his girth and weight teeter him into the small-medium range. The backpack is lightweight and folds nearly flat, but has a solid bottom, and the mesh keeps him from overheating. It's comfortable on my shoulders. The only thing I might add is some kind of padding for where the base of the back hits my hips. Otherwise, couldn't be happier with this purchase.

We bought these for our 2 cats since we're going to drive from Florida to Oregon and need to be able to take them out with us once in a while. My female cat is about 7 lbs and my male cat about 9 lbs. They fit fine in the backpacks and my male is a pretty long cat. I did have a problem some others have mentioned about the weight of the pack hitting me in the low back, but remedied that by wearing a fanny pack as well and the bottom of the backpack rests on the fanny pack. It hits my husband higher up so it's not a problem with him. For the $$, I don't think you can beat these. They're well ventilated and since I live in Florida we needed that. The first day we went out on a sort of noisy street in Portland and my female cat peed out the mesh! The pad at the bottom came out easy to wash and I just rinsed the rest in the sink. No problems. The odor people mentioned disappeared after the first day. One weird design problem are the side zippers begin & end at the bottom of the pack, so after you load them in you have to tip it up to access the zipper to zip it up. Not a huge problem but a top starting zipper may have been better. They do sit at sort of a slant (depending on weight I'm sure) but both cats lay down comfortable and it's not an issue. Great find and I would so far recommend them!

I ordered 6 backpacks and this was the one I was really wanting to love! But it was the one that the dog was angled away from my body and when we walked, he was pressed up against the side looking uncomfortable. He never seemed comfortable like he was in a different bag.

My Maine Coon loves to be out with us but started overheating in another (closed) carry bag I had for her. I chose this over the cuter bags available because it was meshed on all three sides and provided lots of ventilation. The ‘doors’ on both sides open up almost fully making it easy for me to put my cat in. The front flap opens and can be neatly rolled away. There is a safety strap inside which I will clip to her harness as an additional precaution. I have carried her (8 pounds) for a 5k walk and it was very comfortable.

I love the overall look and function of this backpack, but i have two issues with it. The first and most important one is the clasp that is suposed to keep your animal secured inside. My small cat was able to rip it off. i had the window opening unzipped and thank god the cat and carrier were inside my car as he was able to get out. It is so flimsy i cant even find where it was attached. It was obviously glued and not sewn in. My second issue is, although there is a chest strap so the pack doesnt lean away from your body, I wish it had a hip strap so the weight could be carried more on the hips than the shoulders. In the end I returned it because the description showed it expanded in the back to be like a little house and what arrived did not expand.
