First day camping the tent rips: I stake down the bottom and the 'tub-style' bottom (a thicker garden variety tarp sewed onto the cammo tarp on top) rips. I duct tape the hole, and thankfully there wasn't any rain on the trip. The tent is surprisingly roomy, and all told took about five minutes to set up. People comparing this to a Marmot or anything upmarket aren't being fair. Compare this tent to a 30 dollar Coleman you get at a store.
Second night out we get a pretty strong windstorm. The tent is not sturdy. I've been in pup tents before that can handle strong winds without a problem. I think the problem is in the way things fit together, and the cheap tent poles. I tightened all the ropes and weather the night alright.
Other things to think about: The 'window' out back can only be closed from the outside. The tent is essentially a cheap tarp with some cheap poles thrown in. The stitching is not good quality. The seams will come undone if stressed at all. I can't speak to it's waterproofing. I sprayed it down anyway for future use but I doubt it would hold water out of the box. The material is very very thin.
I lasted about two nights in it. On my third night I bunked in one of those store Colemans and abandoned my tent. Yeah, they're not as cool and not as interesting. But: they hold together better in the wind, the have windows you can close from the inside, they have better aluminum poles, and nice little pouches on the inside to hold your phone, kindle, flashlight, keys...
Also considering the tarp I got to put under this thing, the paracord, and the replacement stakes 25$ turned into 45$. So just buy a tent for 30$ and be done with it.
I like pup tents and will likely try to find another one. Probably my next one will be canvas and better made and cost more than 25$. So you get what you pay for.
The only thing I like about this tent is it's weight. I would not mind carrying it all day on a hike. And assuming it was summer and I was somewhere sheltered like the woods. I would take it over anything else. But don't expect quality and expect to shell out a little extra to make up for what this tent lacks. Still, I like the cammo.
