Text Wars: May the text be with you...
I'm Serafina Lopez, and I'm an astrologer. No, not the airy-fairy type who wears long flowy skirts and enormous hoop earrings—you know, unless I want to. I'm an uber-serious businesswoman.
My popular lifestyle app, "Live for you Star Sign," is getting so big, I've just been asked to be a guest on New York's most-watched morning show. To say I'm thrilled would be the biggest understatement of all time. This TV segment is going to launch my career into the stratosphere.
Imagine my surprise when I show up on set to find out that I'm not the only guest. They've also invited astrophysicist Ben Williams from NASA to come on at the same time. (I'm not sure if you know this, but astrologers and rocket scientists aren't exactly sympatico.)
It's 100% hate at first sight (with maybe a tiny dose of lust thrown in—I'm not blind). Too bad he's a total jerk who slings insults at my career like a professional pie thrower. But I'm not one to sit back and take it.
Our explosive chemistry sets records for the network's viewing audience, which means we're asked to host a weekly segment...together.
Unable to turn down the career opportunity of a lifetime, I agree to work with Dr. Grumpy McGorgeous Nerd Pants. Unable to act maturely, we end up communicating by text instead of talking when we're off air (and sometimes on).
Just when I think it can't get any worse, the network sends us to Florida for a conference at the NASA Mothership. When we arrive, we find out we'll be stuck sharing the same hotel room for two long, hot Florida nights.
And that's when it happens. Somewhere in the haze of hating him, I wind up wanting him. But there's no way I can fall for someone who doesn't respect my beliefs.
Can I?

“What did you do with my model?” I hiss at Ben Williams as soon as he’s seated next to me. He rolls his eyes.
“Obviously I murdered him and stuffed his body in the closet so I could make my lifelong dream of coming on national television as a complete moron come true.”
Before I can slay him with a witty comeback, Lacey waves her hands frantically to shut me up. Then she turns to the camera and gushes, “Welcome back to Wake Up America! In case you’re just joining us, we have astrophysicist Dr. Ben Williams on today, here to talk about NASA’s Earth Two project. But before we get to Dr. Williams, Serafina Lopez, creator of the smashing Live for Your Star Sign app, is going to give us a fashion-forward look for your star sign.”
Hal continues, “We had a surprise model in the form of Dr. Williams here. Tell us, Ben, are you really a Gemini?”
“I have no idea.”
“According to our research, you are,” Lacey hurries to say. “You’d think you’d know that, being a rocket scientist and all.”
Dr. Grumpy Pants pauses, then slowly explains, “Science is the systematic, logical, and relentless pursuit of knowledge to help us better understand the universe and all things in it. Astrology is the pursuit of unsuspecting people’s money through trickery, predictions so vague they could apply to anyone in any given location, and blatant insensitivity to empirical evidence.”
He glances at me, then turns back to Lacey. “For you to presume I should possess the knowledge of which utterly irrelevant category I land in based on my date of birth is about as useful as knowing which house I’d fit into at Hogwarts. It’s meaningless. It’s nothing more than a party game.”
I glare at him sending the following psychic communication: Watch out Dr. Williams, it's on...

About the authors
USA Today Bestselling author Whitney Dineen is a rock star in her own head. While delusional about her singing abilities, there’s been a plethora of validation that she’s a fairly decent author (AMAZING!!!). After winning many writing awards and selling nearly a kabillion books (math may not be her forte, either), she’s decided to let the voices in her head say whatever they want (sorry, Mom). She also won a fourth-place ribbon in a fifth-grade swim meet in backstroke. So, there’s that.
Whitney loves to play with her kids (a.k.a. dazzle them with her amazing flossing abilities), bake stuff, eat stuff, and write books for people who "get" her. She thinks french fries are the perfect food and Mrs. Roper is her spirit animal.

Melanie Summers is a multi-award-winning, Amazon best-selling author of romantic comedies and women’s fiction. She’s written over thirty books for people who have had it up to here with the real world and need to laugh, feel good, and sigh happily. When she’s not writing, she can be found either out for a walk somewhere nature-y with her two dogs and her husband or soaking in a hot bath (i.e., hiding from her three teenage children). Melanie resides on Vancouver Island, Canada where her life goal is to become one of those fabulous people who take daily ice baths in the ocean. So far, she can get in up to her ankles, which is not awful, thank you very much.

I loved this easy, breezy romcom that conjures up comparisons to some of the best classic and contemporary combative couples on the big screen. The leads in this story start as enemies, unable to agree about anything, and their fiery conflict makes them the perfect foils for a lively morning talk show segment. Serafina is a take charge entrepreneur; Ben is a skeptical astrophysicist with no time or patience for Serafina's theories on astrological influences on life and love. It's a good set-up and the authors have constructed their story with some fabulous idiosyncratic family who add their heaps of zany to the couple's romance. And who could forget Ben's cat Mr. Spock?!
This was a fun, enemies to lovers, closed door romance. I liked LOL opening of The Text God, the preceding book in the series, a bit more, but this Dineen/Summers series of standalone romcoms has me hooked. I'm already anticipating book four!
This is a standalone with no cliffhanger and no cheating. Closed door steam, only kissing. No language. Told from H and h POV.
