- Reviewed in the United States on September 17, 2024This cookbook is a good "teacher". It is well laid out, directions are easy to follow, and the explanation of each dish gives me an immediate idea of which dishes I want to try first. I cannot find all of the ingredients locally, but some I already grow, and the rest are not so esoteric they cannot be found here on Amazon, with a good selection to choose from. I love this cookbook, and I thank Mr Tila for a well written cookbook that makes me want to learn more as I explore Thai cooking at home.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 31, 2025This is a must have addition for anyone who likes to make or wants to learn how to make Thai cuisine at home. So many great recipe options that please our whole family, which includes younger kids. We also make gluten free versions when needed, and the ratio and substitutions work perfectly for these recipes.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 15, 2024Our family are all huge fans of Thai cuisine, which is hard to find in the rural Midwest. As a result, we attempt to cook many of our favorite dishes at home. This book starts with great information about pantry staples and ingredients necessary for most Thai recipes, and goes on to deliver a good variety of recipes that are both relativelyeasy to follow and result in authentic (to us) Thai flavors. Love it!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 9, 2022I really like this book. I've always wanted to make Thai food at home and this made it accessible. Many recipes on the internet in this area are unreliable so this book helps a lot. I however have two suggestions...
1) While I know Jet isn't pushing certain pantry staple products, I would appreciate some picture of the most common brands. Even with many Thai markets in LA, it's still tough to find the products mentioned. Pics of the most used brands would help...
2) As I now understand from this book, Thai cooking is fast ... REALLY fast. Sautéing garlic for 20 secs until the next step if tough if you don't have someone on hand to be reading the recipe out load to you. I wonder it there's a way to slow down some of these recipes so you don't end up with a burnt mess. Also some simple ideas like deglazing a pan with wine or something has been a welcome addition for me....
- Reviewed in the United States on August 16, 2022Wow! This book deserves 10 stars but that’s not an option. Thai is one of my favorite cuisines but I’ve always been timid to try creating dishes in my own kitchen. I decided to buy this cookbook after watching Chef Jet give a demonstration on making Panang curry and he mentioned his latest cookbook. I thought to myself “What the heck, I’ll give it a try!”. Let me just tell you as soon as this book came in I ran to the nearest Asian market for the ingredients I needed. I have had the book for 4 days and made 2 dishes. Chicken pad Thai and chicken panang curry with jasmine rice. I’m thoroughly impressed with the easy to follow instructions that this cookbook has to offer and all of the tips and tricks he included in this book. My whole family is enjoying my new round dinner recipes! I can’t wait to try more!

- Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2022Jet, you have hit the ball out of the park with this cookbook. I have been really missing authentic Thai food as I was last in Thailand and the region in 2019-2020. Now, I can easily cook at home instead of constantly driving to restaurants owned by Thai friends here in Los Angeles County. I've been eating Thai food regularly since long before Tommy Tang.
I really appreciate that you put in a vegan section. I'm cooking from both that section and the fish section. The meat and poultry sections I will leave for others.
I usually don't have problems finding Thai ingredients as I can either buy them in most stores or go to a Thai friends restaurant and borrow some. But, I couldn't find Thai sriracha, vegetarian oyster sauce, sweet soy sauce (without MSG). As for oyster sauce, I just used regular oyster sauce. But, I would like to find the vegetarian oyster sauce as a family member has a fish allergy.
I usually go to 99 Ranch in both Alhambra and Arcadia. I really miss that your family closed its Thai grocery store in L.A. When I get time, I'll zip down to Lax-C where I'm used to going and can shop faster/easier for Thai ingredients than in 99 Ranch.

This book has so many great recipes. They are easy to make and delicious. Of course, sometimes finding the ingredients v=can be a challenge, but the food tastes delicious. Love Jet Tila on TV, and the book doesn't disappoint.

Rebecca C.Reviewed in Australia on December 23, 20235.0 out of 5 stars Best Thai Cook Book I’ve Ever Bought
I don’t usually leave reviews but this book was so good I felt compelled. When it arrived it was like ever page was a recipe from the favourite dishes I eat at Thai restaurants. A week in and I’ve made 2 dishes - chicken cashew nut and peanut sauce. Insanely good! My family are loving the food. The flavours are real, the ingredients are staple and simple. I can’t recommend this book more highly!
