"Enlightenment Now: The Case for Reason, Science, Humanism, and Progress"
Is the world really falling apart? Is the ideal of progress obsolete? One thing that made Thailand Calling remarkable to me was the number of quotes I highlighted as I read. I usually highlight no more than ten quotes from a single book, but by the time I was done reading Thailand Calling, I had highlighted 22 quotes. Here is a sample of some of my favorite passages from Thailand Calling that I believe will be particularly meaningful and/or relatable to someone considering this book (Note: some words have been replaced with ---- so as not to offend those who take offense at naughty words):
"In the lights of Soi Cowboy, I didn't have to worry anymore about my receding hairline, deepening wrinkles, or expanding belly. As long as Soi Cowboy was here, I would always be a handsome man."
"Cu--s unfortunately were more like snowflakes - no two were the same, and once a man knew this, he was in trouble for life."
"She's practically an angel I think to myself. And yet I can f--- her for fifty dollars."
"Fifty years from now, when I can't remember my own name or what I had for breakfast, I will remember this moment and know that I was young once."
"Thank God I was born in America I think to myself."
Despite the fact that Thailand Calling contains graphic sexual content, I would not classify this book as "erotica." There is an actual story line to this book, and the sexual content it includes is necessary to properly tell the story and allow the reader to better understand the setting and character motivation. If you can relate to or at least can appreciate the above quotes from the book, I would highly recommend Thailand Calling to you.

Read it and realize it is not entirely fiction. Mostly not. Mind bending insane fun.
