There were many more instances of comments made by Jarapan which were distinctly Western in origin. Those same comments made by a hardened bargirl I could understand. But not coming from an upcountry girl who has been in Pattaya for only a few days.
Bottom line was I felt Jarapan, the naive Thai girl from Khon Kaen, was protrayed, acted, and spoke much like a Western girl. And outside of naming a few common and well known locations such as Dolphin Circle, Buddha Hill, Royal Garden, and the Sabai Inn, there is little in the book to whet the appetite of the farang who has spent time in Pattaya and is looking to reminise.
