Tom Christofferson has spent his career in investment management and asset servicing, living in the United States and Europe. He has served as a director on corporate and nonprofit boards and was a founding board member of Encircle, a group providing resources to support LGBTQ individuals and their families in Provo, Utah. Sometimes it’s hard to find the line. I know you know what I mean:
How fully can I show who I am?
How supportive can I be?
How do I talk about this?
How do I live the Gospel?

Well, this book is it. I’ve never found a better, more heartfelt resource for approaching conversations about same-sex attraction (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual) than this. While it doesn’t cater as much to Queer or Transgender feelings, it perfectly shows love to all individuals while showing a remarkable steadfastness in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

One caution I would give to the readers: while this man, Tom Christoffersen, is a great man, I think it would be unhealthy for yourself or for your LGBTQ loved ones to view his life as the only possible way to negotiate these conversations and lifestyles. What works for him may not work for everyone. That being said, he helped me so so much. I’m very grateful for this book. It was shockingly spiritual, doctrinal foundations evident on every page. He taught from the scriptures and from modern Prophets, and their words have never felt more profound or more comforting than when they came from his own experience. Please hold on, for yourself and for your loved ones. We may not know everything but we know enough, and it’s going to be okay ❤️

I heard the author speak and was intrigued by his testimony. I think this is one of the best books I’ve read describing how I feel about the LDS church, I am purchasing it for non LDS family members, he describes the church of Christ like love I know to be real, I wish we could all see Christ’s love as he does, at times in the LDS church the members are too caught up in self righteousness and outward appearances , here attitudes hurt others outside the church, I have often been asked “how do you belong to a church that is so self righteous and not centered on Christ . It has been hard to answer when others have been treated over and over again poorly. I do not fit a typical LDS mold and at times it has been difficult to feel on the outside, this book has given my heart peace and completely embodies how I see the Church of Jesus Christ of later day saints. I pray many members can read this book
Emulate the love that is found in, so the rest of the world will know we follow Christ and strive to be like him.

Excellent read. I chose it because I am working on following Christ's example of pure love - it's hard for me because I'm naturally snarky and sarcastic - Mocking comes more easily to me than kindness. I want to be kinder. People I love most in life do not subscribe to my belief system and sometimes I fear I am 'condoning" what I believe to be bad behavior. This book is about loving others, family unity, shedding the "judge" thing. Lots of quotable quotes; my favorite so far: "Accepting others does not mean that we condone, agree with or conform to their beliefs or choices, but simply that we allow the realities of their lives to be different from our own." Excellent! Could apply to political differences too, people! I am unkindly judged by a family member because I am (conservative) and this book helped me know how to love that person. Put any identity in the parentheses and it will fit. Humans are a judgmental and rejecting lot. This book exceeded my expectations for giving me a better way to think our differences.

I am so happy that Tom Christofferson shared his life with me in this book. He confirmed to me how I was feeling about same gender attraction. We are all God's children no matter what we are going through. God has provided us a way to be happy here on earth if we would only follow his example. Everyone has been given obstacles to lead us away from God's presence. It's up to each one of us, personally, to find away to stay close to him. God loves all his children and he wants them to come back to live with him.. He wants to make sure each one of want the same thing. No man will be forced into Heaven. We have to want it.
