TAL picks up right where TAP left off, and after the whopper of a cliffhanger I was eager to dive in. I kept waiting for Blake to come back and realize that he made a mistake. But during all that waiting, it was Seth who started to take residence in my heart. For that I have to commend Victoria. I am pretty stubborn, and i don't want to say that I completely switched teams, but for the author to make me feel for someone other than "my" team says a lot about her writing ability. I found myself growing more disgusted by Blake's actions and swooning harder for Seth than I thought possible. Don't get me wrong, I am still hanging on to smidge of hope that Blake will resurface and have his HEA with Josie, but by the end of the book I found myself realizing that Seth was really her soulmate.
Josie and Seth have both been through so much. My emotions were all over the place with this book. I hurt for the them and i laughed with them. Again, another testament to the writing ability of Klahr. She has a way with words that makes you feel like you are right there with them. While Josie still grated on my nerves a few times, I was pleasantly surprised with her character development in this book. I think she has come a long way.
Klahr left me with me a smile on my face and a happy heart with the last chapter. I might have even gone back and read it a few more times.Read more ›
This book was a little slow and definitely not as good as the first one. Again, Josie's indecision was annoying. As a plus, Seth is back and there were a lot of steamy scenes between them. I think this series should have ended with this book and although there was another cliffhanger ending, I don't think that I'll move on to book 3.
We'll go slowly. Keep coming back to me. Let me show you that you're my other half... Let me prove to you that I can love you the way you deserve.
And please for the love of baby Santa, fix your damn hair and makeup. You look like you've been attacked by bears all night.
I've been yours since I was six years old... I've just been too scared to admit it.
I'll love you forever, Pussycat. I'll love you when I'm dead and gone. I'll love you when through every life I live after this one. I'll love you every second I have left to live, and I won't regret one single moment of loving you. I'll choose you over and over again, because I can't and won't get over this feeling.
While not as angsty as the first book in the series, Ms. Klahr's writing for That's a Lie remained emotive, evocative, alluring, and seductive. The story was insightfully penned in my favorite form with a dual POV. Even when I became frustrated with her characters, I was reluctant to put my kindle down. I adore Seth Montgomery! I reveled in the second half of this book, which more than atoned for the uneasiness and irritation I experienced during Josie's self-destructive, vile, and cruel behavior toward Seth during the first half. Josie was heinous toward sweet Seth in her efforts to push him away, and I grew increasingly annoyed with her stubborn and churlish behavior. The storyline finally turned to a more positive and nurturing bond for the two and I couldn't have been more relieved, and then the writing took on a heady and salacious sensuality that had me gasping and my beloved kindle steaming over. Oh my, if the characters in this book were actual people, they would be in a constant state of exhaustion and dehydration.
