About the Author

Victoria Klahr (pronounced “Claire”) lives in Elizabeth City, North Carolina with her husband and daughter, Stephen and Alexis. She loves her chug (Pug/Chihuahua), Bandit, and daughter to pieces. She is a huge and proud book nerd who looks at her bookshelf in admiration daily. When she’s not daydreaming about book boyfriends and fantasizing about being a badass heroine like Rose Hathaway, she’s busy doing schoolwork for her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and writing the stories that speak to her in her head. She loves peanut butter with Oreos, good friends, amazing gossip, driving in the middle of merge lanes, comedies, crude humor, pretending like she can dance, pretending like she can kick major ass, and a really, really good laugh.

I love when a novel exceeds my expectations! I kind of went into That's A Promise blind. We received an ARC from the Author, and we didn't go to Amazon or Goodreads to see what it was about. Anytime you receive an ARC you are always nervous that you might not like the book...thank goodness that was not the case in That's A Promise.

Josie had me jumping through hoops trying to understand what the hell she was going to do next. She goes off to college and meets Blake and from the start they are almost inseparable. But she also has a best friend Seth, who she has crossed the friendship line with on more than one occasion. And you think the problem is going to be her picking between Blake and Seth. If only things were that simple...she has no clue that Seth even likes her on that level, which of course makes you feel bad for Seth. But I loved Blake so I couldn't stay in my feelings about Seth for too long.

I love books that are not your normal typical read. This book has a great supporting cast of friends and family. Josie was raised by her two dads, Will and Tony, and the love expressed from their relationship was powerful. Sharing their relationship and their love had to be a favorite for me throughout the book. Her best friend Brooke ROCKED, she was total opposite Josie with her crazy ideas and free spirit.

My "Oh No She Didn't" Moment...when Josie and Seth hook up and she lets him take pictures of them. The way Victoria Klahr displays this private yet oh so erotic moment is indescribable. 'Click. He brought one of my breasts into his mouth and sucked on my hard nipple. His tongue always knew how to make my body feel good. Click. I moved my hands into his shaggy sandy blonde hair, and arched my back, needing more of him. Click.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I rarely ever give a book less than a 4 star review. In fact, this is my first three star review.

Let me start by saying, the storyline was incredible. I know that seems a shock given the star rating, but it's true. There were so many twists and turns, and while my original hypothesis at 40% was correct, it doesn't give the opinion any less credence. If anything, it serves to show how messed up my mind can actually be. These are things you don't think can happen in real life, or even in books. Josie has so much reason to be dark and twisty, but she manages not to be. Blake has issues of his own, but nothing that he doesn't thrive despite. And Seth...I'm not even sure what to say about Seth. He's the best friend love interest, and I am a sucker for those. He was no different for me. I wanted to root for him even though Josie didn't seem to want to accept her feelings for him anywhere but her mind.

And this is where the rating finds it's truth. Josie, despite having reason for a darker nature, really doesn't have more than a selfish nature. I found myself comparing her character to Keira from the Thoughtless series, remembering how so many people found her indecisiveness annoying. Josie really was incredibly annoying from the start. She was in love with Seth in one paragraph, and two paragraphs later she was madly in love with Blake. Although, her internal monologue told us all that she was still in love with Seth, but was settling for loving Blake because he loved her back and she believed Seth would never see her as more than his best friend. This is how the majority of the story went for them. It's the way of love triangles at their core, but Josie's character took it too extremes.

Then there was the sex.

That's a Promise was such a great book!

Theirs not much I can say without ruining it for anyone who hasn't read it. I feel like the tiniest little detail could give away a huge part of the story.

That's a Promise is the story pain and betrayal.

Josie is a girl who has been through a lot. Because of traumatic experiences she doesn't like to be touched by anyone. Josie didn't want to let her past control her, so she decides to finish off college away, with her best friend since forever, Seth.

Blake is delish. He has the look of the bad southern boy, but he's as sweet as he is sexy. It doesn't take long before they are both completely head over heels for each other.

Blake discovers that him and Josie have a lot more in common than they thought. But what he found out is something that could ruin them forever.

Victoria's writing held me captive from page one. That's a promise was filled with heartache, love, lies, and betrayal. Their are so many aspects to this story. Once you find out what you thought would be the OMG factor to the story, you get hit with an even bigger WTF moment.

That's a Promise leaves you wanting so much more! It was a well deserved 5 stars!

I cant wait to read the next book in the series, to see what happens next.

If you love a good story with a lot of twists, turns, and a bunch of sexiness; That's a Promise is the book for you.

Victoria, you created a forever fan in me!
