Savannah Reese had moved on from her hometown, at least she thought she had. 10 years later she’s being forced to go back to Hale, Texas to tie up loose ends. Loose ends that bring her face to face with the boy who stole her heart so long ago, and never really gave it back.
Jason Whitney has loved Savannah since they were kids. She left in epic fashion and blew back into town much the same way. Jason still loves her, but he’s tried so hard to move past it, never quite succeeding. Now that she’s back old feelings are being brought to the surface, and this time he’s determined to fight for her, but will it be enough?
I absolutely love every single thing about this story. The characters, the plot, everything about this book was pure gold. Trust me when I say, this book is one that you won’t be able to put down. From the first to the last page this book had me enraptured. Jason and Savannah are the perfect storm, yet perfect for each other. This is a beautiful second chance romance that everyone needs to read!
Savannah is one of those girls. She's had her own set of problems that lead to her leaving everything behind and heads for the big city lights. When life and circumstances lead her back to her home town, the one she left behind is suddenly right there in front of her, and she has to rethink all of those decisions she made so long ago.
Jason loved Savannah with everything he had, until his world blew up, and in the process of loosing everything, he lost her too. When she comes back to town, he remembers how good it was, how perfect it was, and is determined to remind her of the good times!
This book is full of the charm and hospitality that the South is known for! What is that saying? You can take the girl out of the South, but you can't take the South out of the girl?!? This book definitely proves that. Savannah's years in the city could not take her heart away from her home town, no matter how hard she tried. And Jason was just the perfect Southern male to show her that! This book felt like coming home!
Sweet Home Alabama has nothing on Savannah & Jason. This is such a refreshing down home, second chance romance.
Savannah has a plan for her life. But of course, with a plan, there are obstacles. Unfinished business in the town she fled 10 years ago forces her to go back and fix it all so she can move forward with her life.
Jason has a plan too. His plan has nothing to do with hers, except maybe to prevent the girl he loves from leaving him behind in the dust.
I love when characters know they’ve done wrong, and try to resolve it. I also love when they want to bury their heads in the sand and pretend it never happened. This had both.
Things I absolutely loved: the family aspect. In the south, family plays such a huge role in the day to day, and the fact that Savannah hasn’t been around hers in 10 years, breaks my heart. However, a little bit of time with her brother and sisters and nieces and nephews fixes that real quick.
‘𝑭𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒚 𝒊𝒔 𝒂𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒈𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒃𝒆𝒔𝒕, 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒊𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒉𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒎 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒊𝒕.’
Jason and his utter devotion to loving the girl that got away. Even trying to help her do what will ultimately send her away again, back to her other life.
‘𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐫. 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐦𝐞.’
Ultimately, I absolutely loved this. Lots of lessons hidden, tons of wisdom pearls planted between these covers. Absolutely recommend.
