I don't usually write reviews, but after seeing that this book had only a single one-star review I wanted to put in my two cents. I bought this book for a class a few years ago and, not being much of a poetry reader, it's the only poetry book I own. But I find myself picking it up often because I like so many of the poems and the different viewpoints they present. Lots of great images and personalities shine through, and I always come away with something to think about. It's also lead me to some prose authors that I really like. So now I'm buying a copy for a friend.

I must say this book was able to touch me deep inside like no other book has! It's very thick so I understand it can be too much for some to take, but if you're patient and willing, it can end up being quite fulfilling. It has kept me satisfied on many lonely nights!

I thought this was going to be a book full of jokes ending with the punchline, "That's what she said". Lame.
