A Puppet of the Breaucracy
on January 23, 2014
As a journalist reporting on the Food and Drug Administration since 1976, and one who voted strenuously for Obama the first and ever so reluctantly the second, I found this book to be an authentic catalog of his failures to keep promises (especially the one to establish the most transparent government in history) and his capture by the permanent established Civil Service bureaucracy that we elected him to tame. They don't want and never have wanted transparency, and so he caved to them.
Other presidents have done the same, but they didn't promise transparency!
Obama's amateurism has been a huge disappointment, unrelieved by the experience he has gained on the job.
My main criticism of Klein's authorship here is its clumsy tacking-on to the first edition, which was a rush job to influence the 2012 election.
