Overall: decent book.
I'll confess, I have enjoyed Sparks novels through the years. It probably started with my wife - she likes them, too.
Generally, the ideas behind the novels have been good; however, this time it felt a little uninspired to me. Like he ran out of ideas and so used a hybrid of previous plots.
Sparks's stories have always impressed me in that he keeps it simple, yet emotionally charged. It's so easy to connect with the characters, even if you aren't from North Carolina - his standard story setting.
If you're a fan, it's still worth a read, but don't expect anything earth shattering...just a pleasant tale.
