I was absolutely devastated when I found out that The Brave was canceled after season 1. This show was one of the freshest takes on military dramas I have seen in a long time. It was riveting without all of the cliche drama that usually goes along with this type of show. I loved getting to see Jaz, Patricia, and Hannah being strong women (each in their own unique way) while fighting for what they believe in. I also really loved getting to see a sincere, devout Muslim character that was neither cartoonish nor stereotypical in Amir. I feel that, with all of the story lines left unfinished, and the whopper of a finale, that NBC should have at least let this show try to wrap things up with a second season.
We have three new series about special units and I believe this is the best. I have been riveted from episode 1 on every single one of these episodes. I can not say the same about SEAL TEAM, despite watching David Boreanez in every episode of BONES, BUFFY, and ANGEL. SEAL TEAM is getting better, but THE BRAVE was riveting right out of the gate. I hope they make a lot more. Anne Heche does a heck of a job as the leader. Totally believable combination of strength, guts, and vulnerability.

This series is worth watching! The acting is outstanding. This is about a team who is stationed in Turkey and fights in places often far from backup where they only have each other to rely on. It's very rare that I like all the characters in a show. But I liked ALL the characters in this show! Great sense of layers to each of them (lots of hints and clues if you're looking for them - McG reading the Harry Potter novel in his opening scene, the tiny anchor symbol on Dalton's gun and the hints of the dark past with his drunkard father, Amir trying to recreate his mother's cooking, Jaz's scar on her knee from her own tough childhood, etc.). I loved how they relied on each other like a family (inside jokes and everything). It's such a shame it was cancelled and not picked up as it's much better than a lot of other similar shows. The team as family dynamic is just soooo good! And the physical moves, whoever boot camped these actors made them move like the real deal, in tandem, with situational awareness. So good for me! Anyway, if you like military type stories (13 Hours, Jack Ryan, NCIS but with more explosions and gunfire), or Suzanne Brockmann type books (her Navy Seals series). Then this is the show worth trying.

I haven't seen a better show ever...and I've seen many! I don't write long reviews because I don't have to. Who reads those angway? I hovered over 4 stars for a split second because I think the character Anne Heche plays was miscast. Am I the only one that thinks she is trying too hard? Well, I guess time will tell. Watch it!
My family has watched season 1 about 7-8 times EACH episode--and we'll probably watch it again before the next season starts. We love Jaz, Adam, Preach, McG, Amir, and Patricia--and Noah and Hannah, too. We feel as if we know these characters. Excellent acting. Excellent writing. Excellent execution! Just a GREAT show!!!
I had not heard about this before the season started; was actually into SEAL Team. My brother acknowledged SEAL Team but told me, casually, that The Brave was better. I watched episode one and was hooked; addicted actually. Not only was it better, it BLEW SEAL Team away. The team chemistry between cast members was great; each having their own specific identity, adding a dose of levity in the midst of unimaginable circumstances. I bought season 1/2, as it turns out regrettably, and have viewed it all several times. What happens to Preach??? It must be brought back somehow.
