For a concluding book, Spirit Animals: The Burning Tide was a disappointment. My son who loves the series was caught up in the action of it and missed the poor writing and editing, but even he said it didn't go back and forth enough, so he lost track of characters throughout.
Minor Spoiler Alert: As for the negative comment regarding the writing and/or editing, it just seemed the book was late for deadline and so sloppily finished. A spirit animal cannot be tending to one character in active state when two paragraphs before it was put into passive state. If magnatism at the pole was enough to confuse an airborn Great Beast, then how could regular birds fly directly to target until thwarted by steaming glaciers? These are two examples (I can think of three more off the top of my head) where inconsistencies distracted from the story.
I understand these are novels for young readers, but the rest of the series was much tighter and respected the readers much more.

Such a great book if you read the original series it ended with all of the great beast runing into the evertree and sacrificing them selves to save all of eradas and in this series its actually quite similar except for at the end where zerif is fighting against the wyrm with all of the great beasts still in passive state and it makes you think what will happen to the great beasts

Awesome series for our 9/10 year old boy. I even read them with him so we could "converse" about them. I am a 38 year old school administrator and really enjoyed the series.

My daughter has read all of the Spirit Animals books - both series. She loves anything that involves animals, especially magical ones that can talk and such. These books seem to be well-written with good story lines that hold her interest.

My son loves the Spirit Animals series, and I have always found some appreciation for each book; so I was greatly disappointed when the book turned out as bad as it did. I understand that having different writers leads to variety, but I would have preferred a strong finish.

My son has been waiting months for this book to come out. Received at about 6pm on Wednesday and he was finished with it at about 8am on Thursday (not bad considering he slept for 8-9 hours in that time as well)!

This book is a must read for everyone. It's a adventure-style book, with creepy characters, loss and resilience. I recommend you start with book 1, but this particular book is the best. Watch out for Zerif, he's the bad guy.
