The content for this ebook seemed serviceable - drawing correct conclusions and spanning the major events of the Byzantine Empire, at least politically. I was disappointed that the ebook didn't include anything about Byzantine art and culture, nor did it seem to mention Anna Comena's Alexiad, one of the seminal historical works of the Byzantine Empire. But perhaps the editors purposefully steered away from these subjects.
The editing for this book is poorly done, and includes inconsistent capitalization, typos, and misspellings. It's too bad that the publisher didn't spring for a copyeditor - this title could have used it.

This is good broad overview of the history of the Byzantine Empire. If you are unfamiliar with the history of the Byzantine Empire this book is for you. It keeps its focus broad and takes very little time to read. Overall it feels like the ebook version was not edited or quality checked before being released, there were some basic spelling errors and there were two blank pages between each chapter.
I would not suggest paying for this book, if you would like to learn about the Byzantine Empire, save some money and use the internet to get the same information.
