A promise to the Author (from the crazy support agent)
May 27, 2016
I was pondering a new paranormal book series to read after completing my last when I had the great pleasure of speaking with Shannon MacLeod one day when she called for some "video game" account support and as luck would have it, I was the agent who got her phone call. After a wonderful conversation (while working on her issues at hand) I discovered she was an author and BINGO she wrote paranormal books, which are my favorite. I got the book and promised I would give an honest review afterwards...and here it is Shannon!
First, let me start by saying...everything is better with a touch of Irish. The characters are easy to wrap yourself around and take interest in. They do not seem to far "un-human" and you can imagine them walking beside you in the real world. There were a few things that I did not see the reason for in the story such as a few of the "flashbacks or memories". Some of them seemed out of place and did not give a clear reasoning. I also would have liked maybe a little bit more insight into the two villains of the book. We do get some about the ex-boyfriend but not much about his accomplice and what her motivations are or her thoughts.
However, the book in itself was fantastic (so much so I immediately purchased the second book after finishing the first!). The pace of the book is steady and there is never a dull moment. I was sad when the book ended because I wanted more!!! I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a great new paranormal series to read. The characters are wonderful and the plot is one that will keep you wanting to read and never put the book down.
One suggestion I would make for book #3 (which I will be ready to purchase as soon as you finish it)...perhaps you might add all of the gaelic words, pronunciations and meanings somewhere in the book as a reference? It would help when you see the word "mo cuishle" and forget what it means or if you have no clue how to even say it to have that to reference to either at the start of the book or the end. Other than that...write faster...I don't want to wait to long for the 3rd book!
